From th AP:
"FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Mar. 21) - A busload of activists representing working- and middle-class families paid visits Saturday to the lavish homes of American International Group executives to protest the tens of millions of dollars in bonuses awarded by the struggling insurance company after it received a massive federal bailout. "
The AP never identifies these activists wonder if they are Obama's radical friends from ACORN?
A blog from the center trying to save the middle class from being totally screwed by the elites from both parties.

Obamanomics: AIG Bonus addition
President Obama is shocked that some people at AIG were given bonuses totaling $160 million dollars. He's either lying or has no clue what members of his administration are doing. Meanwhile the idiots in Congress retroactively impose a 90% tax on those bonuses which were legally given out. Which is a scary proposition for those of us who pay taxes. Meanwhile, Senator Chris Dodd who originally had a provision in the "Stimulus Bill" that would limit these bonuses but, the Obama administration had him take those restrictions. He's not the only one who was boondoggled by the Obama administration:
"The culprit behind the killing of the Wyden provision remains unsolved -- but Dodd fingering Treasury adds weight to Wyden's sense that members of Obama's economic team were behind the elimination of his amendment. And, in both cases, major decisions involving taxpayer money were carried out in a way that flies not in the face of fairness, but in the face of the administration's promises of transparency and accountability." -Huffington Post
So with Obama like his predecessor George W. Bush the questions remain he is he lying about knowing about the bonuses or clueless about what it is going in his administration. Obama should know that he can no longer escape the issues and accountability by speeches. Because they are becoming just words.

Christmas Greetings from AIG and the Federal Reserve
This time of year is particularly a dangerous time for us taxpayers. It is a time when those in Washington can slip out bad news but, chances are less people will notice it. The reason for this is because everyone is running around for the Christmas holidays. Even most of the media empties out of this town for the next week or so. Not me. I am looking for the bad news leaked out. I think I found it in today's Washington Post. It concerns AIG and how it was able to get some of those nasty credit default swaps off it's books. Here are the money quotes:"American International Group retired $16 billion in credit default swaps, the contracts that almost caused the company's collapse, after buying the underlying securities with help from the Federal Reserve."
"The fund created by the Fed and AIG to protect the insurer's customers from losses has now purchased collateralized debt obligations with a face value of about $62.1 billion, the firm said in a statement."
"The business guaranteed more than $70 billion in securities created by pools of different kinds of debt, including sub prime mortgages, that plunged in value. The federal government committed $150 billion to bail out AIG and prevent losses at investment banks that bought protection on fixed-income securities from the insurer."
Whoa! AIG only guaranteed $70 billion in securities. But, we taxpayers gave them $85 billion and then another $65 billion in loans? What wrong with this picture?

Corporate criminals and illegal immigrants
A Washington Post article by Krissah Williams reports that AIG the big insurance company apparently has no scruples when it comes to making a buck in the United States. Like that other corporate criminal Bank of America that looks the other way and offers bank accounts and other services to illegal immigrants in this country AIG seems to have no problem doing the same in issuing insurance policies to illegals. AIG too seems willing ask no questions when it comes to making a buck. Of course with it's pro illegal media bias the Washington Post does not mention illegals but, you can read between the lines pretty easily. Here are some of the money quotes:
"Foreign-born workers, many of whom do not have bank accounts, could become loyal customers if wooed by the financial services industry, said Len Battifarano, senior vice president of the international insurance division of American International Group, one of the world's largest insurance companies"
And how will AIG make sure that the policies they sell will not be given to people who are violating United States laws? Try not to laugh to hard when you read this quote:
"AIG and Microfinance International will sell their benefits package to local employers at $10 to $20 a month per worker. The companies hope to sign at least 25 to 30 employers this year and said they assume that the workers they enroll in the program will be legal U.S. residents who have been vetted by their employers."
I happen to have an AIG insurance policy on my car. I wonder if they will ever just "assume" that I have a $250,000 custom built sports car in my driveway. Now where is the number for that other insurance company? I think it's time to move my policy to another insurance company.
