COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM JOKE #3: Border Security triggers

Conn Carrol has a loophole in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform legislation that you can drive a truck full of illegal immigrants through. Make that a convoy.

Marco Rubio, R-Fla., produced a press release today claiming that his new “Border Security, Economic Opportunity & Immigration Modernization Act” creates “six security trigger steps that must be met before any currently illegal immigrant is given access to a green card.” And it is true. His bill does create six such triggers. But it also creates a huge loophole that makes them entirely irrelevant. " MORE HERE

Here is the result:
"In other words, if the Chamber of Commerce sues to block creation of the E-Verify program, and they either win, or that suit is still pending after ten years, then the secretary of homeland security is empowered to grant permanent legal residence to all legalized immigrants regardless of the actual security situation on the border.

Or maybe environmentalists will sue to block construction of the border fence. Or maybe the ACLU will sue to block the visa-exit system. There are a thousand ways liberal groups could sue the federal government to slow border enforcement. And as long as just one of these suits are still pending 10 years after the bill has become law, the secretary of homeland security is empowered to grant permanent legal status to everyone who benefited from the law."

So all the pro illegal immigrant groups like the ACLU and business groups have to do is keep the lawsuits coming for ten years and then the illegals are home free. Border security or no border security. So much for Rubio's border security "triggers" promise.

CONNECTICUT MUZZLES RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS BUT, STILL ALLOWS THE ACLU TO ENABLE MORE MASSACRES

While the misguided Connecticut lawmakers enact knee jerk legislation that impacts responsible gun owners they ignore the reason why Adam Lanza was able to commit the Sandy Hook School Massacre:

A troubling revelation has broken regarding a mental health bill recently defeated in Connecticut during this calendar year. Had it passed, that bill could have possibly taken Adam Lanza off the streets so he would not have been free to commit his heinous act on December 14.

In February 2012, Connecticut Senate Bill 452 (SB452) was put forward to remedy the fact that Connecticut was one of less than ten states in the U.S. to lack an "assisted outpatient treatment" (AOT) law. 

"Why didn't the legislation pass? Because the ACLU and other "civil liberties" groups and individuals cried foul. The ACLU in particular said 452 would "infringe on patients' privacy rights by expanding [the circle of] who can medicate individuals without their consent." They also said it infringed on patient rights by reducing the number of doctors' opinions necessary to commit someone to institutionalization.  "  -BIG GOVERNMENT

It's now known Lanza had mental health issues so much so that school officials at the Sandy Hook school notified security to keep an eye on him while he was a student at the school. But,  groups like the ACLU don't want any scrutiny of people like Lanza once they are out in the world. Such a liberal ideology may have conspired to allow Lanza the "freedom" to orchestrate the massacre that occurred at the Sandy Hook school. The "feel good" legislation adopted by the Connecticut legislature will not stop another massacre from occuring.

U.S. Chamber of Corruption

A U.S. government plan to crack down employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants was delayed again on Monday as a federal judge said he needed more time to issue a ruling.
The Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security were to send joint letters in September warning businesses they'll face penalties if they keep workers whose Social Security numbers don't match their names.-Washington Post

So even when the Government tries to work and enforce the law it is sometimes stopped. Who might be doing this? Let's see:

"Lawyers for the plaintiffs, which include the AFL-CIO, the American Civil Liberties Union, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and numerous other business and labor groups, claim the rule would put a heavy burden on employers."

The first two organizations the "A" in their title use to stand for "American" though it would be more appropriate that they change it to Alien. Because they are not helping the American workers when they file lawsuits against the government enforcing it's laws against illegal immigration.Then there is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who are also doing their best to make sure that the Federal Government does not enforce our laws. They should also change their name. Perhaps to the "U.S. Chamber of Corruption" Because they too seem to want to encourage it here in the United States by blocking enforcement of U.S. laws.

Immigration enforcement finally a succesful program!

An interesting article in today's Washington Post about a successful Homeland Security program. It seems it is so successful and efficient (that's not often the case with Federal Government programs) that the title of the article is "Border Policy's Success Strains Resources"
Of course the Illegal Immigration lawyer lobby and the ACLU aka Alien Civil Liberties Union is upset with the idea of the incarceration illegal immigrants especially when a program is successful. Here are some of the money quotes from the article:

"The $65 million tent city, built hastily last summer between a federal prison and a county jail, marks both the success and the limits of the government's new policy of holding captured non-Mexicans until they are sent home. Previously, most such detainees were released into the United States before hearings, and a majority simply disappeared" (emphasis by BCP)

Here's another money quote and the bottom line!

"The new policy has led to a dramatic decline in border crossings by non-Mexicans, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency."

The say you can't knock success but, the ACLU and the pro illegal lobby and of course the immigration attorneys are certainly trying much to the detriment of the middle class American taxpayers and law abiding citizens.

And the problem is?

The Washington Post on Monday had an article on the push by some pro-illegal immigrant groups to push the Democrats toward some type of immigration bill in their favor. They see problems like:

"Pressure to allow in more workers has been mounting since Congress passed a law in September to fund hundreds of miles of new fences along the border with Mexico and a series of raids against illegal workers last month by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security."

And the problem is? With a border crackdown and the Federal Government actually starting to protect our borders businesses are beginning to realize that the unlimited hiring of illegal workers may be coming to an end and that they will FINALLY need to obey the law like many middle class taxpayers do. That's not a problem that's part of the solution.

"On January 8, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the Hispanic Federation asked Democratic leaders to take action on immigration within 100 days, saying the raids "stirred further emotion and fear" in the Hispanic communities."

And the problem is? If you have broken the law as the illegal immigrants have done by entering this country illegally and therefore continually violate our laws you should be in fear because you know you have broken the law. That's not a problem. Fear for those who break the law is a good motivator to actually stop breaking the law and do things legally. That's part of the solution to illegal immigration.

Now this is a problem:

"ACLU lawyers said the lawsuit, for which they seek class-action status, is the first to argue that illegal immigrants should be treated better than convicted criminals or pretrial inmates because they are held on civil-administrative, not criminal, grounds."

Memo to the ACLU: When a person enters the United States illegally they have broken U.S. immigration laws. Criminal illegal immigrants are not supposed to be treated better than other criminals. The problem here is that the American Civil Liberties Union needs to change it's name to the Aliens Civil Liberties Union.
