Is McCain riding the B.S. express to victory in New Hampshire?.

John McCain may be on a roll in New Hampshire but, not because of his "straight talk express". I was watching "highlights" of the Republican debate in New Hampshire. Although he tried Mitt Romney did not quite smack down John McCain on the immigration amnesty bill that McCain helped cook up last summer behind closed doors. But, it's not all Romney's fault because he and many others keep getting got the facts wrong thanks to the mainstream media where the Romney campaign are probably getting their debate points. Perhaps they should turn to the blogosphere where those of us who were following the issue pointed out how bad the immigration bill McCain supported really was. For example Romney tried to point out that the illegals would pay only %5,000 in fines if the the bill which McCain supported passed. WRONG! It was much worse than that! As I and others pointed out last year:
"The illegal immigrants under the Senate Amnesty Bill ONLY HAS TO PAY A FINE OF $1,000 to become legal to work indefinitely in the United States under the Senate amnesty bill. They ONLY have to pay the additional $4,000 IF the want to become a U.S. citizen."
If Romney had had his facts straight he could have put McCain away by attacking his Achilles heal which is his support for last years illegal immigrant bill. But, as I said it is not all Romney's fault. Even the mainstream media outlets like Time and the New York Times got the information wrong.

McCain plays the sympathy card at the You Tube debate.

Unlike the open borders and ethnocentric illegal immigrant La Raza crowd who try and label any U.S. citizen who wants our borders protected racist. McCain played the sympathy card for illegals at last nights You Tube debate:
"We must recognize these are God's children as well," McCain said. "They need our love and compassion, and I want to ensure that I will enforce the borders first."

Please Senator McCain just stop this nonsense. God's children? How about God's taxpayers? Yes that's right the unwashed middle class taxpayers who are forced to subsidize the illegals that you want sympathy for because of you and your colleagues failures to secure our borders. Now you say you want to secure our borders first. Sorry you had your chance and failed. To paraphrase the Soup Nazi on Jerry Seinfeld "NO VOTE FOR YOU!"

I'm with Fred

Fred Thompson entered the presidential race last night and not a moment to soon. Of all the candidates Thompson has always struck a cord with me as possibly someone who can lead the country with fairness, common sense and hopefully a minimum of pandering. I have been waiting for Thompson to enter the campaign after giving up on the Democrats for their amnesty position on illegal immigration issue. To me voting for them would be like voting for George Bush. At least Thompson does appear to have a "law and order" (no pun intended) position on the issue. Which I think will separate him from the pack and make it easy for Democrats like me to vote for him.
Of all the candidates I think Thompson's rise to where he is closely mimics my life too. The following quote by Thompson is something that is so closely a biography of my life it's scary:

"In his announcement video, Thompson portrays himself as someone from ordinary roots who has enjoyed great success in life. "I have worked for minimum wages, for salaries more than I ever thought I would make, and for everything in between. I have had dinners on the factory floor, while working the graveyard shift,"

Maybe I sensed this connection with my middle class upbringing and values. Many month's ago as I gave a five bucks to his exploratory committee (something that I have never done before). I just hope I get my money's worth from his candidacy. Because right now I'm with Fred.

Someone smack some sense into John McCain!

"Sen. John McCain of Arizona found himself isolated Tuesday night as he staunchly defended controversial immigration legislation against a barrage of criticism from his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, who argued that the bill is deeply flawed and should not be approved by Congress".-Washington Post

It was good to see that the other Presidential candidates were smacking John McCain around on his Bush like stubbornness to push S. 1348 aka the Senate Illegal Immigrant Amnesty bill through congress. Here are some of the money quote smack downs:
From Rudy Giuliani:
"The problem with this immigration plan is it has no real unifying purpose," former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani said. "It's a typical Washington mess. It's everybody compromises. . . . And when you look at these compromises, it is quite possible it will make things worse."

He has got that right! But, of course the gang of 12 which includes McCain are not thinking that far when it comes to the Senate Amnesty bill maybe this will give them something to think about:

"On average, low-skilled illegal immigrant workers claim fewer tax credits and use fewer social welfare services than their legal counterparts. But critics of the legislation predict that legalizing undocumented immigrants will lead to a rush on public services that will outweigh any increase in tax revenue from the newly legalized workers."

Meanwhile McCain came back with this stupid argument:
"McCain said that inaction represents "de facto amnesty" for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country."

Earth to McCain it is only a "defacto" amnesty if we continue to NOT enforce the current immigration laws. Does John McCain think we citizens are really that stupid. We have the illegal immigration problem we have today because politicians (like McCain) did not have the will to enforce our current laws and they expect us to believe that they will enforce the ones in the new Senate Bill.
"McCain defended the bill as the best compromise on an issue that has deeply divided the Republican Party. "It's our job to do the hard things," he said, "not the easy things."

Like enforcing current immigration laws Senator McCain?
"At one point, Rep. Tom Tancredo (Colo.) called for suspending most legal immigration, which drew rebukes from many on stage. McCain called the idea "beyond my realm of thinking" and said that the United States must remain a beacon for the rest of the world. "And the lady that holds her lamp beside the golden door is still the ideal and the dream," he added."

Once again McCain tries to use symbolism for logic. Whenever a politician like McCain tries to use the Statue of Liberty for justifying the unchecked immigration policy that he and others have allowed to get out of hand they should be reminded that right next to the Statue of Liberty is Ellis Island were almost every immigrant coming into this country had to go through to be documented before being allowed in. They should also be reminded that it was also used as a deportation center remove those who did not obey our laws.
