THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA FAIL ON THE COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM DEBATE

Mickey Kaus points out the major media failings on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform debate:

"10 to 0–The MSM’s idea of a debate: Thanks to Politico for the list of all the guests on the five major networks’ Sunday talk shows (on all of which immigration was a hot topic of the day). I count thirteen politicians or administration figures. Of these guests, ten vigorously support some form of immigration amnesty (Schumer (two shows) Graham, McCain, Dan Pfeiffer (2 shows), Bill Richardson, John Huntsman, Luis Gutierrez and Mario Diaz-Balart.) But that’s OK, because the networks booked politicians who oppose amnesty to debate them! … Oh wait, there were no politicians opposing amnesty debating them. Zero. None. FOX included." - Mickey Kaus

It's pretty clear anyone getting their information from the old media outlets these days on important issues like "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" is only getting half the debate.

RACHEL MADDOW GETS IT WRONG AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Well, the left's favorite snarky Liberal lesbian Rachel Maddow got it wrong again!  On her Thursday night show she played a clip from the Rush Limbaugh radio show claiming it was from the day before when in fact it was from a year ago. Newsbusters has the story here.  You would think that having a show on MessNBC would involve more fact checking and that viewers could trust it more than say a YOU TUBE posting but, apparently not. But, of course this is not the first time Maddow has got it wrong.  But, getting it wrong may be ok when your are on the list as one of the Obama administrations approved pundits. Which brings up an interesting point. Rachel Maddow did her show from Washington Friday night. I wonder if she and fellow Obama Administration approved news media types are having another private propaganda sit down with Obama at the White House this weekend? Then again she is supposed to be one of the panelists on MEET THE PRESS this weekend too.  Looks like the standard at NBC Network shows that guests on prestigious shows like MEET THE PRESS are heading toward the MessNBC baseline standard. Wonder if Maddow will wear her glasses on MTP? It may help make her look smarter than she is.

Remembering Russert

I was out working on my sailboat when I heard the news that Tim Russert had died. The local NPR station had just switched from it's classical music format to the nightly broadcast of All Things Considered. The headlines started with "one of Washington's most respected journalists had died". I thought immediately it must have been Helen Thomas the longtime elder icon of the Washington press corp. I was shocked that they started they mentioned Tim Russert.

What made Russert different from many of the other journalists in the mainstream media is his middle class background. There are far to few journalists today who have the sensitivity and common sense of the middle class. Tim because of his growing up in Buffalo the son of a hard working middle class sanitation truck driver understood what it meant to be middle class in America and never forgot it. He was more in tune with that segment of the American public than many of the others in the mainstream media. There are not many others in the media with the same sensibility. With Russert gone politics will not be the same, America will not be the same.

Bill Richardson dumb as George Bush on illegal immigration

New Mexican Governer and Democratic Presidential candidate Bill Richardson will be on Meet the Press today on NBC. It will be interesting to see if Tim Russert asks him about the pardon he urged George Bush to give fugitive felon Elvira Arellano hiding in plain sight in Chicago and thumbing her nose at U.S. laws.
Russert might also ask him about his comments that he feels Alberto Gonzales should stay on as Attorney General because he is the highest ranking Hispanic in the Bush Administration. File that position by Richardson in the "What the F*#K?" file. Tim should also ask him how do say "racist position" in Spanish?
