RATIGAN & TIABBI: JOURNALISTS OR ANARCHIST ADVISORS?

The crowd sourcing that is going on as a result of the document dump by Andrew Breitbart has uncovered some interesting connections between "mainstream" media outlets like MSNBC and the Occupation Wall Street anarchists. Namely Dylan Ratigan's emails advising the Occupy Wall Street protesters and also acting as a conduit to Democrats like Dick Durbin.  Also the emails show that Rolling Stone reporter Mike Tiabbi was up to his elbows in advising the Occupy Wall Street anarchists too.  Dana Loesh at Big Government has the story and the emails here.

WHAT HAPPENED AND IS HAPPENING AT THE CALHOUN NUCLEAR PLANT?

"The plant is still dry," "Everything is still safe."-Mike Jones, Senior Media Specialist 

Hmmm, not exactly reassuring. But, it's what you would expect from the PR person from the Omaha Public Power District. But, is the Obama administration being "transparent" with what is actually happening at the flooded nuclear plant?  The photo above is not reassuring either. Here is another take:

"A shocking report prepared by Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that the Obama regime has ordered a “total and complete” news blackout relating to any information regarding the near catastrophic meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant located in Nebraska.



According to this report, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant suffered a “catastrophic loss of cooling” to one of its idle spent fuel rod pools on 7 June after this plant was deluged with water caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River which resulted in a fire causing the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a “no-fly ban” over the area." -The Nation

While I am also skeptical of what the Russians might say about many things going on here in the U.S.A. The U.S. media seems to be very uncurious about what's going on at the Calhoun plant too. Especially since the disaster that happened in Fukishima Japan was caused by water. Oh well! Now back to the U.S. media coverage of Ms. Obama and "the girls" in South Africa.

 

DEATH TO THE ACADEMICS?

Those with PhD degrees can sometimes be rather pompous and egotistical. Sometimes the PhD seems to stand for piled higher and deeper. Such an attitude may be irritating but, people don't usually resort to violence against them. Then comes this story in today's New York Times about Professor Richard T. Antoun who was stabbed in his office on Friday. Here are the money quotes:

"A 46-year-old Binghamton University graduate student from Saudi Arabia was charged on Saturday with killing a retired anthropology professor, a specialist in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies with whom he had worked, the authorities said.
The student, Abdulsalam S. al-Zahrani, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of the professor, Richard T. Antoun, who was stabbed in his office in the university’s Science I building on Friday afternoon, said Gerald F. Mollen, the district attorney in Broome County. “We believe the murder weapon was recovered,” he said.
Mr. Mollen said in a statement that Mr. Zahrani and Professor Antoun had known each other through Mr. Zahrani’s “work in the graduate program.” Later, in an interview, the district attorney said that “they’ve known each other for quite some time.” The extent of their contact was not immediately clear."

It's hard to fathom why someone would want to kill a retired Anthropology Professor of Middle Eastern Studies. But, the fact that the person charged was from Saudi Arabia should raise some eyebrows in the post 9/11 era. Dont cha think? That's why I found it curious that the New York Times would bury (no pun intended) this story on page 36 in the regional section of the paper. I know the Times has gone down hill over the past few years in terms of their biased reporting but, have the editors gone so politically correct that this story needs to be buried so far back in the paper? Hell, if some stupid kids on Long Island kill an illegal immigrant (as happened last year in Patchougue LI) it's front page news at liberal papers like the Times. American Professor's don't usually die at the hand of a Saudi national. But, for some reason it' buried on page 36. Curious.

TV OR NOT TV THAT IS THE QUESTION

Well today is the day that TV stations across America will be turning off their analog TV transmitters and only broadcasting in the new Digital transmission format. I have not turned on my TV set since April and you know what I don't miss it it at all. I am able to get all the information I need from the Internet and radio. I find I'm actually more productive in doing this. I can listen to radio (mostly for weather forecasts) while doing other things. The Internet also allows me to get right to the information I need and not what some TV news director or programmer thinks I'd be interested in (or feels I should be interested in). So as far as the change in the TV transmission. I've made my television change months ago by keeping the TV set in the off position.

Out of Africa and back to a news Obamanation.

We arrived back in Washington D.C. on Saturday after three weeks in Africa. I was out of the "news" loop and away from the MSM for most of the time. Though we did hear of Obama's pick for the Supreme Court from a Brit at bar in Mozambique. Other than that it was pretty much safari's, staring at Victoria Falls, African sunsets or snorkeling on a reef off of Mozambique. So it was with some anticipation that I turned on CNN to see what the important news of the day after a virtual three week news blackout. CNN deemed it wise to use it's news gathering resources and airtime to cover "live" President Obama's motorcade turning onto 46th street to go see a play in New York. This is still what passes for "news" with MSM outlets like CNN. Sad.

Mainstream media gets it wrong. Again!

Howard Kurtz in today's Washington Post has a look at how the mainstream press is got it wrong in new Hampshire. Mu take is that the mainstream media and the campaigns still do not realize that they are losing control of the rudder of the political ship. Bloggers have taken over the engine room. While the pundents continue to talk among themselves and reinforce their own views. That's why they are getting it wrong more and more.

Texasses of the year: The Dallas Morning News

Another mainstream media outlet plays the sympathy card on illegal immigration. The editorial board of the Dallas Morning News have made illegal immigrants "Texans of the Year for 2007". I don't even know where to begin with this idiocy from the papers editorial board. But, Michelle Malkin does a good job of reminding the editors that they should stop wearing horse blinders when they look at issues like illegal immigration. Here are some of the questions Ms. Malkin has of the Dallas Morning News editorial board. They are good ones indeed:

"Question: Why is it that the human face they want us to see belongs only to the law-breaker…and not the human face of those who have to enforce the law or bear the costs of lax enforcement?"

Question: Why is the “illegal immigrant” the “Texan of the Year”–and not, say, the “Border Patrol agent?”"

"Question: Why is the “illegal immigrant” the “Texan of the Year”–and not, say, the victims of catch-and-release and failed deportation policies…like 15-year-old Dani Countryman of Kaufman, Texas–who was murdered in August by two illegal aliens with prior records who had entered the U.S. from Mexico illegally?."

Can black journalists be unbiased in reporting?

I listened to Juan Williams on NPR's Morning Addition last Thursday. It was an interesting piece that asked the question if a black journalist should be unbiased when reporting on the black community and it's leaders. The answer appears to be no and after listening to the piece again it seems to justify advocacy and omission as acceptable journalistic principles for "black" journalists. Looks like it's another step backward for truth and integrity in journalism.

I heard a report that there was a poll that 9 out of ten people are sick of the media coverage of the foibles of celebrities and rich idiots like Paris Hilton. Someone please alert the mainstream media.

Niger Innis rips Robert Johnson of BET a new one!

Watch this video of Niger Innis of the Congress of Racial Equality as he opens a can of wup ass on Robert Johnson founder of BET (Black Entertainment Television) and others like Snoop Dogg who defend the use of offensive lyrics of the rap and hip hop music industry. Unlike Sharpton and Jackson who use their manufactured outrage against white guys like Don Imus , Innis goes to the heart of the problem and it is not Don Imus.

Rape rooms, death rooms and Newsrooms

In the run up to the war much was made by the Washington war machine flacks about the Saddam Hussein's sons raping Iraqi woman that they saw on the street. Yesterday, a second U.S. soldier pleaded guilty in raping a young Iraqi woman and then murdering her and members of her family. So much for the United States having the moral high ground in this war.
What struck me in the coverage of this story was how two different media outlets covered the story of the rape and murder. Here is how the Washington Post/AP described the soldiers testimony about the rape and murders:

"I lifted up her skirt and took off her stockings while Barker held her hands with his knees," he said before admitting that he raped the teenager as she screamed. "After I was done, myself and Barker switched spots."

Now here is the Reuters report on the testimony:

"While we were playing cards Barker and Green started talking about having sex with an Iraqi female. Barker and Green had already known..." Cortez said before breaking down. He bowed his head and remained silent, sniffling occasionally, for a full minute before continuing.
"Barker and Green had already known what, um, house they wanted to go to ... knew only one male was in the house, and knew it would be an easy target," Cortez said.
Once at the house, Green, the suspected ringleader, took the girl's mother, father and little sister into a bedroom, Cortez said, while he and Barker took the teenager, Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, to the living room.
"She kept squirming and trying to keep her legs closed and saying stuff in Arabic," Cortez said.
During the time me and Barker were raping Abeer, I heard five or six gunshots that came from the bedroom. After Barker was done, Green came out of the bedroom and said that he had killed them all, that all of them were dead," Cortez said.
"Green then placed himself between Abeer's legs to rape her," Cortez said, sniffing audibly. When Green was finished, he "stood up and shot Abeer in the head two or three times." The entire crime took about five minutes to carry out, he added.
Cortez said the girl knew her parents and sister had been shot while she was being raped. He said she screamed and cried throughout the assault."

If the American public only reads stories from the Associated Press and other mainstream U.S. news organizations who reported this story they may never fully understand why there is such hostility to the United States. The Reuters report shows the brutality and horror of the actions of these U.S. soldiers. A brutality and indifference that matches that of Saddam Hussein and his sons. This hypocrisy of horror is not lost in the Arab world. In the American news media the horror of what happened to this young Iraqi girl and her family is buried under news stories about Anna Nicole Smith. When will the American public wake up that we are not always looked upon as a shining light anymore in many parts of the world.
