I have never watched Duck Dynasty and probably never will but, I am still outrage at the suspension of one people of the popular reality show for expressing his views on homosexuality in a publication outside of the cable channel. Seems to me A&E should change their logo to A&C where the C stands for censorship. Like I said I would probably never watch the Duck Dynasty program. Actually I can't because over two years ago I gave up my Cablevision cable and have never regretted the decision and neither has my wallet. I miss nothing and by spending my time in new media I also keep up on the outrages like the politically correct BOZO thinking of the A&E censors. John Nolte has an interesting question about this in his latest blog:
"Can A&E afford to alienate all eleven million "Duck Dynasty" viewers by punishing a Christian for expressing Christianity?"
He also makes a good point about how if you want to stop this kind of censorship on cable there is something you must do:
"If you want to really hurt A&E, you are forced to go to the extreme of canceling the entire cable package that comes with A&E, and that could mean losing channels you do like and want to support. It might even mean cutting the cord entirely and having no cable television. And if you do cancel your cable, be sure to tell them why, because a lot of people are cutting the cord these days.
Things aren't as bad as they used to be. There are now alternatives to cable like Netflix Streaming, Amazon prime, home video, etc. But not everything you might like is on there."
Having personally cut out cable over two years ago I can honestly say I don't miss it and I find more interesting things on the Internet in places like You Tube and other new media that are better uses of my time. If you still miss some of the shows they will still be available on other media at some point. It won't be the end of the world if you drop cable but, will open up a whole new one thanks to the Internet.
