2007 A BCP year in review

JANUARY

Also in January the Scooter Libby trial was underway.

There were some rumblings about the firing of a few U.S. Attorney's.

The Drug and Pharmaceutical companies were all of a sudden hiring Democratic lobbyists. I wonder why that is?

Toys R US gave America a wake up call with a contest to give $25,000 to the first baby born after the first midnight. Unfortunately, the baby was born to a mother who was in the U.S. illegally. So they gave it to the runner up baby who was born to legal U.S. mother. In the end Toys R US gave out three $25,000 awards. The third baby being born to a couple from El Salvador where they here illegally? Don't ask because the liberal mainstream media does not either.

Also in January the BIG news was that I opened up the Beer Can Politics Store. So far I am my best customer. Good thing I don't live from the proceeds.

FEBRUARY
The first murmers of an attempt to give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants begin in the Senate.

Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham gets an award from La Raza and in a few months would help lead an unsuccessful attempt to give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.

Congressman Charlie Norwood dies. Led battles for the patients Bill of Rights and fought against illegal immigration:
"After years of listening to 'advocates' whine about compassion for those who intentionally break our laws for financial gain, I'm glad to see us finally showing some compassion for our own poor and sick who abide by the law,"

Also in February Molly Ivans passed away leaving taking though she she still left a few laughs behind:"During a recent panel on the numerous failures of American journalism, I proposed that almost all stories about government should begin: "Look out! They're about to smack you around again!"

Speaking of the failures of American Journalism cable news showed it's how use less it can be by going 24/7 on the coverage of Anna Nicole Smiths death.

I first mention Ron Paul as a candidate for President.

MARCH

Fred Thompson first pops up on my radar.

Speaking of popping I pop Mike Bloomberg's trial balloon. But, never underestimate the power of a billionaire to do what he wants.

New Haven Connecticut becomes a sanctuary city. Hola suckers!

The gang of four start to work behind closed doors on the illegal immigrant amnesty bill.

APRIL

I attend the HOLD THERE FEET TO THE FIRE event in Washington D.C.

The racial lynch mob goes after DON IMUS including in the mob with their manufactured outrage are some media hypocrites like Keith Obermann and Al Roker. Meanwhile after firing IMUS NBC NEWS make the Virginia Tech campus shooter a star and gets shot down in the process.

The man without a country Kurt Vonnegaut dies.

The White House quote of the year is made: "We screwed up, we are trying to fix it."

MAY
May was the month of illegal immigration mostly because it was the month where forces both inside and outside of Washington tried to ram through the illegal immigrant amnesty bill but, the American people fought back. Twenty Five reasons why the Senate illegal immigration amnesty bill should be defeated. Did somebody say assimilation? Senator Grassley gets it!
La RAZA Award Winner Lindsey Graham does not. Meanwhile the illegal immigration insanity keeps going on on Capitol Hill. Hispanic Journalists try their hand at an Orwellian spin. And a few politicians try to spin the issue too.

JUNE

Some good news on illegal immigration. A bomb plot at JFK foiled. WHERE'S THE ???? The American people win one for democracy. Democrat Byron Dorgan asks the right question from the Senate floor. While Ted Kennedy is always good for a few laughs on illegal immigration. Who is burning down our house? Fugitives hiding in plain sight.

JULY

Libby pardoned! Ramos & Compean are not. Al Gore's son arrested. Bush administration creating problems where there were none on immigration. Taxes My 1986 car died. Senator Arlen Spector tries to beat a dead horse

AUGUST

Dick Cheney develops amnesia. Credit markets start shaking. Iraq money poof! Karl Rove has left the building. Domestic spying from above approved. Elvira Arellano is hiding in plain sight. Finally Arellano brought to justice! Three college students killed by illegal immigrants in New Jersey. Leona Helmsley dies. Alberto Gonzales going, going gone

SEPTEMBER

The political bathroom scandals. I still like Fred. More sub prime shaking. We ride the magic bus with the illegals. The Kennedy's try to control the wind. Blackwater is in hot water. Eliott Spitzer's great idea! Driver's licenses for illegals. Spitzer's other great idea taxpayers pay for medical care for illegals.

OCTOBER

Al Gore wins Nobel prize for what? Al Gore talks the talk. BCP walks the walk on Blog Action Day. Verizon spies on customers. Hillary drinks Spitzer's Kool Aid. Solar Decathlon, Bush again a no show. DREAM ACT defeated without me. Damn! New York Times still being dishonest. Is California burning? Again? Spitzer still stuck on stupid.

NOVEMBER

Writers strike begins. Hello You Tube. Record oil prices thanks day traders! Subprime meets Citibank. An election day warning. Norman Mailer dies. Bank of America profits down. I wonder why? Hillary's Jeff Gannon moment. Coming soon to a school district near you. Spitzer unclogs his ears and drops illegal drivers license plan. No surprise here. The big disconnect on illegal immigration explained. McCain plays the sympathy card at You Tube debate.

2007 Begins and ends with death.

I decided to spend some time this morning looking at some of my blog posts over the year and was struck that the year began and ended with deaths in the news. There is of course the death of Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto which is very much in the news. But, I also thought it interesting that one of my early blog post in January also concerned the deaths of some prominent people. There was Gerald Ford and some guy named Saddam Hussein who hanged remember him?

2007: A big story you might have missed. I did.

I am not sure how I missed this story but, being a sailor to me it is big news! 2007 was an historic year because the first transatlantic passage by solar power was achieved. It seems to have been covered by most of the major news organizations (at least online) but, I guess Brittany Spears probably got more air time. Anyway you can read about this historic crossing here and here and there are some great clips on You Tube also. This is big news! The kind of big news that the big oil companies want you to forget about as soon as possible.

Stupidos at the Zoo

CNN reports that the three youths who were attacked by the Siberian Tiger at the San Francisco Zoo may have been taunting the tiger.
"Sources close to the investigation told the San Francisco Chronicle that police are probing whether one of the Siberian tiger's three victims climbed over a fence Christmas Day and then dangled a leg or other body part over the moat. Police said Carlos Sousa, 17, of San Jose was killed just outside the tiger's enclosure. The two others, who were injured, were about 300 yards away by a cafe. "

If that's the case my sympathies lie with the Tiger on this one. But, of course that won't stop the families from filing a lawsuit. Good thing I won't be on that jury because I would never give a reward for stupidity. I'm also sick and tired of parents who try to place blame every else:

"The killed teen's father, Carlos Sousa, told CNN on Thursday that the zoo should do more to protect visitors. "

To which I say: How about you raise your children not to be so stupid as to taunt tigers in zoos!

Huckabee is just a huckster on illegal immigration enforcement

The Immigration Watchdog has the goods on both Mike Huckabee and his "plan" on dealing with illegal immigration and you know what? It is almost as bad as the amnesty plan that McCain, Kennedy and Bush tried to ram down our throats early this year. Listen and learn especially those good people voting in the Iowa Caucas:

In Mexico it's sex, drugs and death.

The Washington Post has an article on the Mexican music industry here are some of the money quotes:

"Sergio Gómez, 34, was the latest of a dozen pop musicians to have been killed in the past year in Mexico. Nearly every one of the slayings bore the hallmarks of the drug cartel hitmen blamed for 4,000 deaths in the country in the past two years."

"Among music industry insiders, Sergio Gómez's death and the previous killings are also forcing a quiet assessment of the influence drug trafficking kingpins wield over the business. It is common knowledge in Mexico's music industry, but not known to the general public, that drug cartels finance the careers of some budding musicians, then launder money through unregulated concert ticket sales, according to industry sources, musicians and law enforcement. "

Just as the drug gangs of Mexico help some of these Mexican muscians achieve fame they also help illegal immigrants cross our borders by giving them backpacks full of drugs to carry across the in exchange for coyotes to guide them into our country. Of course the mainstream media often ignores this little tidbit in their stories of illegal immigrants.

What would Jesus watch?

I spent Christmas Eve making a nice homemade cream of mushroom soup and watching Jesus Camp. A frightening but, humorous documentary about America's answer to the Muslim fanatics and as usual it ain't a pretty picture. The Jesus Jihadists are just as scary. It even includes a special appearance by Ted Haggard the former evangelical homosexual advisor to George Bush. I think even Jesus would be shaking his head after seeing the film. One thing is for sure this former Catholic will not be celebrating Christmas. I'll continue to celebrate the Halcyon Days and I welcome you to join me.

Teachers with political agendas

Erica Vieyra is a high school teacher with her own political agenda and her agenda is to show students how to break U.S. laws and encourage sympathy for those who do. Here is her lesson plan::
"Erica Vieyra told her 40 senior Spanish students at Olentangy Liberty High School. Fill out the correct documents, follow the proper steps. And then, after they spent days completing the actual paperwork from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, she took out her red ink pad and stamped a big, fat DENIED across every request.
Now, she told the students, come illegally. Forge your documents, find a way across the border. Then, research real ads and find a place to live in Columbus. Figure out what it would cost, how to get food. Plan how to survive.
The students had to go to real businesses and ask for Spanish-language job applications. They had to visit a bank and ask for new-account documents written in Spanish.
Vieyra promised them that the process -- even in make-believe -- would frustrate them."

What teachers like Vieyra FAIL to understand that coming into this country illegally is meant to frustrate people who want to break our laws. It is not suppose to be easy. BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL! If she wants to see real frustration have about five of her students role play Spanish speaking border patrol agents or ICE agents and have the rest of the class role play being illegal immigrants. Then let the student "border patrol" agents try and apprehend the "illegal immigrant" students wandering around the school. That would be a lesson in frustration. The Ohio school district where she is employed should fire this teacher immediately and tell her to take political agenda with her.

Two unbelizable taxi rides

My trip to Belize was a wonderful week away week away from TV, Internet and various other media. Just a week of being on a boat, snorkeling, swimming and staring. Along with a few beers (of course) and a rum punch or two at sunset. My trip to this corrupt though beautiful Central American country was bookended by taxi rides from and too the airport. On arrival as we drove toward Belize City I noticed some fellows fishing along a river. I asked the driver what they were fishing for. He scowled they were probably Mexicans who came across the border looking for work. Then said that the river use to be full of fish before they came in and fished it out. It seems immigration from Mexico is an issue on both sides of the Mexican border.
On the way to the airport I also had another moment that also tied into immigration. Our cab was stopped at a Police checkpoint where a Belizian Police officer sternly but, politely asked our taxi driver for his license as check. As the driver opened his wallet I noticed that he also had a California drivers license. Though I doubt anyone would check to make sure he was in California legally before he got it. As the saying on the front of the bar in the photo says "It's a sunny place for shady people".

Belize it or not. A place to follow the money

While I enjoy posting on this blog daily. There are times to take a break and this is one of those times. I will be heading to Belize where I will be spending a week on board a 47 foot sailing catamaran out of sight of the mainland and modern communications as much as possible. Please try to keep the country safe so that I have a country to come back to. In the meantime take a look at this site USAspending.gov. If you want to see where our money goes this may be the site to see. I like to spend more time looking at it but, I still have to pack. Be back in a week.

Another clueless WAPO editorial

As I mentioned a few days ago it did not take long for the elite liberal editorial writers at the Washington Post to show their clueless disdain for the will of the American people. Today's editorial was par for the course and also shows the WAPO liberal view and frustration in understanding the rising voices of the great "unwashed" American voters who have said enough is enough when it comes to allowing illegal immigrants to remain in this country after blatantly ignoring our laws. Their feeble attempt to make an illegal act of entering the United States appearing to be legal begins in the first paragraph:

"THE IDEA that 12 million illegal residents of the United States can be induced to quit the country en masse within four months...."

"Illegal residents"? I wonder if the Washington Post would have called the 9/11 hijackers terrorist "residents" and come out against any plan to make it uncomfortable for them to remain in the country. What about "resident" foreign drug dealers? Using the Washington Post logic they do provide a service (distributing drugs) for various communities and U.S. citizens. Having them leave the country would also cause a "disruption" in that part of the economy. The Post writers also ignore that many of the illegals coming across the U.S. Mexican border act as "mules" carrying backpacks full of drugs for the drug smugglers. Should we look the otherway on this illegal behavior too! As has often been said what part of the word "illegal" do the liberals in the editorial offices of the Washington Post not understand. Even the Post admits that the candidates are starting to get the message:

"Virtually all the presidential candidates now tip their hats to tougher enforcement of existing laws,..."

The editorial writers need to ask themselves why that is? It's called democracy stupidos! Perhaps if the elite editorial writers would get out of their offices and spend some time with the middle class taxpayers who have finally had enough of rising school taxes, social services costs and crime that comes along with a flood of illegal immigrants they may begin to understand the outrage of many middle class taxpayers and voters.

Fear, greed and tears

"The Federal Reserve cut a short-term interest rate yesterday to try to keep problems in the housing and mortgage markets from dragging the nation into recession, but Wall Street judged the move as too timid and financial markets tanked. "-Washington Post

Only on Wall Street can good news be looked on as bad news because greed seems to know no bounds. Meanwhile:

"The chief executives for two of the nation's dominant mortgage-finance companies traveled to Wall Street yesterday and delivered competing words of regret for having to take painful steps to shore up their businesses.
The two government-chartered firms recently cut the dividends they pay shareholders and borrowed billions of dollars of relatively costly capital to stay in compliance with regulatory requirements and ride out the turmoil in the housing market.
"We wanted to dilute the common shareholders like we wanted to shoot ourselves in the head with a gun," Richard F. Syron, Freddie Mac chairman and chief executive, told a gathering of investment analysts.
"I wanted to cut off both my arms, and both my legs, and my head and my kidney," Fannie Mae chief executive Daniel H. Mudd said later in the day. "

Washington Post ignores the facts in a murder..

One notices that many mainstream media outlets in reporting on certain stories are leaving out important facts. Especially when it sheds a negative light on their editorial position. The latest violation of truth in reporting comes from the reporting of Theresa Vargas of the Washington Post concerning a triple murder. Nowhere in the Washington Post article on the murders does it mention that the alleged murderer is an illegal immigrant. A little fact that would no doubt reflects badly of the Post's sympathetic portrayal of illegal immigrants in our communities. To get the real hard facts you have to look to other more truthful reporting like that of Dan Genz of the Baltimore Examiner to get the truth:

"Illegal immigrant held in triple murder
Prince William County police said the suspect in a Woodbridge shooting that left three dead and two injured Sunday morning was an illegal immigrant. Anastacio Sanchez-Miranda, 39, of Dumfries was awaiting extradition from Pennsylvania to Northern Virginia to stand trial for the slayings. The two injured victims were in stable condition, Officer Erika Hernandez said Monday.
"– Dan Genz

Is it any wonder why many are not trusting some of the reporting of the mainstream media these days.

Earmarks: Meet the new boss same as the old boss

"Even as House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer has joined in steps to clean up pork-barrel spending, the Maryland congressman has tucked $96 million worth of pet projects into next year's federal budget, including $450,000 for a campaign donor's foundation. "

It seems Democrat Hoyer is now one of the top ten earmark providers in Congress. So much for change now that the Democrats are in power. What kind of important projects is Hoyer funding with his ear marks?

"Consider the $450,000 that Hoyer inserted into a 2008 education spending bill for the California-based InTune Foundation Group, whose Web site describes it as a music-education nonprofit group.
In 2005, InTune got a previous earmark for nearly $500,000 to develop lesson plans on funk music and Nobel Peace laureates. Asked recently how effective that program had been, Education Department officials said they didn't know. InTune hadn't turned in a report on what it did, officials said. "

I think Leslie K. Paige of the watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste says it best: "Don't we deserve to know where this money is going and who these people are?"

The Santayana moment of the CIA and Congress

"WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department and the CIA's internal watchdog announced Saturday a joint inquiry into the spy agency's destruction of videotaped interrogations of two suspected terrorists as the latest scandal to rock U.S. intelligence gathered steam. "-Washington Post
It is with some amusement to see Washington all in a tizzy about the destruction of the waterboarding videos of the Central Intelligence agency. It seems everybody has forgotten the deeds of CIA employees Sidney Gottlieb and former CIA director Richard Helms who back in the seventies destroyed most of the documents of CIA brainwashing experiments of the MKULTRA, Bluebird and Artichoke programs. Helms even got the National Security Medal. Nothing ever really became of the destruction of these records. As the Grassley axiom states: "If you reward illegality you get more of it!" or perhaps in this latest case of CIA destroying records the outrage being expressed may be short lived as George Santayana said over one hundred years ago:

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Saving energy? Not in the Senate.

An article in today's Washington Post points out that the Senate is about to fold on the new energy bill. Here are the money quotes:

"Democratic leaders in the Senate are planning a vote on a retooled energy bill late next week after they failed to muster enough support yesterday to prevent a filibuster of ambitious legislation passed by the House on Thursday. "

"A new version of the bill will probably scale back some elements of the House's tax package and jettison a requirement that electric utilities use renewable energy for 15 percent of their power generation, but a White House veto threat citing a broad range of objections continued to cast uncertainty over the ultimate fate of the proposed legislation. "

Hmmm Why would anybody in this country not want our utilities to use even a small amount of renewable energy?

"The failure to close debate was a victory for the major oil companies, Southeastern utilities and coal-mining firms that had opposed the legislation. "

Doh! Forget I even asked the question.

Thursday, December 06, 2007

I told you so.

To all my fellow taxpayers who took out loans and dutifully paid them back and continue to live within your means I say Hola suckers! As the Washington Post article today the Bush administration is set to announce a plan to bailout those sub prime loan borrowers and of course it involves some of your tax dollars. Here are some of the money quotes:

"The administration's plan appears to be winning support on both sides of the aisle. And perhaps as
importantly, it has backing from key private-sector players, including nonprofit groups, mortgage lenders
such as Countrywide Financial and big banks such as Citigroup. "

Imagine that! The banks and mortgage lenders that gave out these sub prime loans, the non profits that will get an influx of taxpayer money to help support it are all for the plan. Who would have thunk!

"In some ways it's worse than a taxpayer bailout," said John Berlau, director of the Center for
Entrepreneurship at the institute. "It pressures an industry to essentially alter the terms of millions of
contracts, and it's going to make investors think twice about investing in America again."

Not to mention that no one will take loan agreements seriously and those who invest in mortgage backed securities may no longer take the risk.

"Yesterday, lawmakers expressed concern over the accountability of nonprofit groups that would receive
public funds under the administration's plan. Some taxpayer money -- about $200 million -- would go to
nonprofit groups staffing a national credit-counseling hotline for troubled homeowners. Some
Republicans worried that about the expanding role of local housing authorities, which can be difficult to
police."

Yes, hola sucker taxpayers for less than a quarter of a billion of your taxpayer dollars your government will be giving this money to "non profit" organizations. Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with this idea. They are "non profit" but, that does not mean they will be non corrupt with our tax dollars. Stay tuned!

In Phoenix things are changing

"Under pressure from advocates for stricter immigration laws, the mayor of Phoenix said on Monday that he no longer backed a Police Department order barring officers from routinely asking the immigration status of people it arrested and announced a panel to study a policy change."- New York Times

It's heartening to see elected leaders realize that they were elected to represent the people. Especially a Democrat like Mayor Gordon.

"Mayor Phil Gordon discussing illegal immigration Monday.
A spokesman for Mayor Phil Gordon, Scott Phelps, said the policy was “written for another time” on the belief that the federal government “would fulfill all of its immigration responsibilities, and clearly that has changed.”

Yes, things have changed but, it is not because the Federal Government has not "fulfilled" their immigration responsibilities. That failure has been going on for years. It was the death of this man Phoenix Police Officer Nick Erfle who was killed two months ago by an illegal immigrant. It just a shame that it takes deaths of Police officers and innocent U.S. citizens before some politicians begin to take action to do something about illegal immigration.
Like the murders of the three college students in New Jersey earlier this year by illegal immigrants. Which like in Phoenix led to a change in policy of Police looking into the background of those stopped by the Police. It seems it takes deaths before our elected leaders get the message. That is to high a price to get the attention of our politicians.

Sub prime suckers!

As the Washington Post reports today the other shoe is about to drop on the sub prime loan debacle and as I predicted it is going to fall on us taxpayers. In a cryptic speech yesterday Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson announced a "plan" to help bailout the sub prime loan borrowers and lenders. Details of which are supposed to be announce "later this week". Let's hope it is not in the dark of night here are some of the money quotes:

"Municipal housing authorities now offer mortgages at lower-than-average rates to credit-worthy, first-time buyers whose earnings are at or below the average household income levels, which vary by region. Cities and states can provide such advantageous loans because they sell tax-exempt bonds backing the mortgages to investors at lower rates, passing on the savings to homeowners. "

Translation: The loan risk will be slid off the banks portfolio and onto the taxpayers, Hola suckers taxpayers!

"The lack of details has made it hard to know how many homeowners the plan would help. In the past two years, about 2 million credit-challenged, or sub prime borrowers bought houses with mortgages that typically had interest rates of 7 to 8 percent. "

Credit challenged? What type of politically correct nonsense is this? The banks and lenders gave these loans out to these people. They are the ones responsible but, there is a slight of hand going on here and these "credit challenged" homeowners are about to become the problem of us taxpayers and not the lenders and banks who gave them the loans.

"Paulson's plan also faces a daunting task of figuring out who is eligible for mortgage relief, because many loans have little documentation of a homeowners income, said Douglas W. Elmendorf, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution"

You can just smell the lawsuits beginning from those who don't get relief. I'm not even going to go into the number of illegal immigrants who have gotten sub prime loans which is the eight hundred pound gorilla in the room that no one wants to talk about.

" Whatever plan Paulson presents, "they are going to need the nonprofit community," said Kenneth D. Wade, chief executive of NeighborWorks America, who spoke at the housing forum yesterday. "

Oh yeah this is a good one. Let the "non profits" run the show. You can see the corruption beginning. The banks will be off the hook and by the time anyone realizes how much money was ripped off from the taxpayers who are subsidizing this bailout it will be too late. Get ready to open your wallets sucker taxpayers!

Don Imus is back.

Don Imus will be back on the air today and all I can say it is about time. My only concern is how I will be able to listen to him here in D.C. At least when I am back on Long Island I can here him on WABC AM. Those who helped manufacture the outrage against Don Imus I hope are a little concerned. From weak kneed executives at NBC and CBS. Not to mention other hypocrites like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Keith Obermann and Al Roker who help lead the lynch mob to get Imus off the air. There should even be some Presidential candidates like Hillary Clinton who should be afraid, very afraid. I for one hope that Imus opens up a big can of "wup ass" on them all. They deserve it just as Imus deserves to be back on the air.

Bobby Van the man.

Bobby Van Velsor has died. He at one time owned the Booby Van's restaurant that was once a literary watering hole in Bridgehampton to the likes of Kurt Vonnegut, Truman Capote, Willie Morris and also the wealthy denizens of the area. He sold the restaurant back in the eighties and wanted to get back to his classical music career. At the time of his death he was driving a cab because he liked the flexible hours. Here is the money quote from the New York Times obit:
"In an interview with The New York Times in 1987, Mr. Van talked about his gradual disenchantment with the saloon business and his desire to reclaim a classical music career.
“I’m still not sure about what I want to do,” he said. “I know what I don’t want, and that’s to return to playing in cafe society. I don’t enjoy it. I don’t want to have to mix my music with that clamor and din. I don’t want to share the spotlight anymore with people eating and talking.”

McCain plays the sympathy card at the You Tube debate.

Unlike the open borders and ethnocentric illegal immigrant La Raza crowd who try and label any U.S. citizen who wants our borders protected racist. McCain played the sympathy card for illegals at last nights You Tube debate:
"We must recognize these are God's children as well," McCain said. "They need our love and compassion, and I want to ensure that I will enforce the borders first."

Please Senator McCain just stop this nonsense. God's children? How about God's taxpayers? Yes that's right the unwashed middle class taxpayers who are forced to subsidize the illegals that you want sympathy for because of you and your colleagues failures to secure our borders. Now you say you want to secure our borders first. Sorry you had your chance and failed. To paraphrase the Soup Nazi on Jerry Seinfeld "NO VOTE FOR YOU!"

Speaking of journalism.

The Washington Post has an interesting article on a woman named Faye Anderson and who is a blogger and Citizen Journalist. It's an interesting article about the rise of blogs like this one and many others offering critiques, rebuttals and original reporting beyond the what the mainstream media provides or does not cover. It explores this brave new world of information. Here is one of the money quotes:
"It's not you, the journalist, it's the institution," Ms. CJ tells Mr. MSM. "You're not telling the whole story. . . . You've lost your credibility."

BCP UPDATE:
Ms. Anderson reacts in her blog to the Washington Post story about her and those of us who labor in front of the keyboard for no pay other than trying to find the truth and bring it out into the light so others can see it.

Eh tu New York Times

Speaking of liberal mainstream corporate media. This New York Times in a piece by Nina Bernstein plays the sympathy angle about recent immigration raids in Greenport Long Island that were aimed at gang members but, also picked up illegal immigrants in the sweep.

To which I say: And the problem is?

You don't have to look to far to see the bias of "The paper of record". The headline reads "Immigrant Workers Caught in Net Cast for Gangs " A little fact the Times editors seemed to have forgotten is that illegal immigrants are not supposed to be working in this country in the first place. But, the Times does not seem to let facts get in the way. Just like the law does not seem to stop the wealthy folks out in the east end of Long Island from hiring the illegals (or paying $10,000 for their bail). There is a priceless photo in the piece of Charlotte Gemmel and Maureen Sanders the "retirees" petting their dog and in the forground their illegal immigrant gardener they provided bail for. It is a photo over looking their gardens and water view property.

John McCain crys in the Sonara desert alone.

Those who are pro illegal immigrant apologists including the Washington Post and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain have only one argument to the American people in defense of illegal immigrants. That is the sympathy argument. The Washington Post tried to use it again yesterday. Here are the money quotes:

"It was the issue of immigration that hurt my campaign," he said. "I have not encountered a domestic issue that has provoked the emotional response that this issue does with a lot of Americans." -John McCain

Ya think Senator? Perhaps maybe people get emotional when they pay hard earned tax dollars to the Federal Government to "protect and defend" the country and it's borders. But, on the way to work in the morning to earn money to pay those taxes they see a hundred or so illegals standing on street corners in their community which is 1500 miles from the border.

"People are continuing dying in the Sonoran desert, and it's just a very sad thing to see,"

And who exactly is to blame for that Senator McCain? The U.S. citizens who want our borders secure so that illegals can not start the trek across the desert some to die others to end up in our communities. Or people like you in Washington and those businesses that are hiring illegals that look the other way and ignore the laws that our Federal Government is supposed to enforce. Save your tears Senator McCain for when you look in the mirror to see who is really causing those deaths in the desert.

The View From Washington- Black Friday

While others begin the offical crazy Christian Chri$tma$ season on "Black Friday" with trips to the malls. I prefer a walk through Rock Creek Park here in D.C. thinking about Teddy Roosevelt and Jusserand.

Gloria Steinheim meet Heidi Krum

You've got to feel sorry for all the woman who went out marching for the woman's movement back in the sixties. All that "consciousness raising" and we end still end up with Britanny Spears, Paris Hilton and Heidi Krum.

What Clinton, Obama & Bush don't understand.

While Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards continue to do a John Kerry on the issue of illegal immigration. They just don't seem to get what is so infuriating to many Americans on the issue of illegal immigration. These political elites just do not seem to understand the anger of U.S. citizens. John Derbyshire at the National Review has an excellent primer for these clueless elites:

"It was noticed years ago that the gap between elite opinion and public opinion on immigration issues is extraordinarily wide, as these gaps go. Some of this is naked self-interest: wealthy business types liking cheap, docile labor forces, rich folk of all stripes appreciating cheap & meek domestic servants. Some part arises from the guilty conscience that rich people always have, even in the U.S.A., known that all wealth and success is to some degree a product of dumb luck. From this you get patronizing noblesse oblige attitudes directed most particularly at those who are obviously poor. (The lower-middle classes don't seem to get much noblesse oblige directed their way.) Some comes from the "diversity" indoctrination that most elite types got while passing through their elite colleges and law schools. A big part arises from the simple and inescapable fact that elites don't share the anxieties of ordinary folk. They don't worry, as the rest of us do, about property values, losing a job, or affording health care."

He also has a spot on explanation the surprise that those in Washington got when they tried to ram through the "Comprehensive" Immigration Amnesty Bill earlier this year:

"Our Senators stir themselves from their oak-paneled offices and antique-leather armchairs to cook up a new scheme to amnesty all those polite, nice folk who are doing their yard work for them. Seems like a great idea! Then suddenly they can't hear themselves talk for the roar of phone calls and faxes coming in from their constituents. Elite Back-Down Two. It's all totally baffling to them. Who are these people making such a fuss about a perfectly reasonable, humane proposal?
It's us, buddy, the great unwashed. This is still a democracy we have here. Try to keep that in mind, eh?"

I would also add that these elites had also better understand that the United States is a Republic and not an employment agency for Mexico or any other country.

Why does this not surprise me.

From Diggers Realm
"Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, the drug smuggler who was given immunity by US Attorney Johnny Sutton to testify against Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean, was arrested on drug charges at the Zaragoza Bridge along our southern border yesterday, Nov 15, 2007. He will appear in court this afternoon and faces a total of 5-40 years and $2 million dollars in fines for drug smuggling."

Why does this not surprise me.

I am woman watch me steal.

Like the Virginia Slims cigarette ads that proclaimed to women "You've come a long way baby!" It's women have indeed come a long way especially when it comes to corruption and stealing from the public. The Washington Post has an article about one of the biggest fraud cases in the Washington D.C. Here are some of the ill gotten money quotes:

"FBI agents who descended on the Northwest Washington home of D.C. tax manager Harriette Walters found a nondescript brick rambler, but just inside was the wardrobe of a princess."

"The inventory, filed yesterday in U.S. District Court, provided new insights into the lifestyle of the woman who prosecutors say masterminded the biggest fraud ever perpetrated against the D.C. government: $20 million and counting, they say. It details items seized by nine agents who went through every room of the house near Rock Creek Park.

Walters, 51, co-worker Diane Gustus and four others are charged with taking part in a conspiracy to generate illegal property tax refund checks for themselves. In a separate court filing yesterday, authorities alleged that at least $12.7 million of the stolen money flowed directly into accounts controlled by Walters's niece, Jayrece Turnbull, whom they described as Walters's principal partner in the scam."

Equality marches on and it appears women can be just as corrupt as men.

Pelosi: Another Delusional Democrat

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today blamed Congress' failure to bring an end to the war in Iraq and deal effectively with the reform of immigration laws as the primary causes of the institution's near-record low approval ratings.

In an interview at the U.S. Capitol, Pelosi said the Democratic takeover of Congress had raised expectations on action to end the conflict in Iraq, and that the Senate's initial willingness to tackle immigration reform followed by its failure to do so left the American public disappointed in Congress
"- Washington Post

The failure to deal effectively with reform of immigration? You've got to be kidding me Nancy. The answer that Democrats, George Bush and a few Republicans were pushing in the immigration bill was amnesty. The reason for the failure and the low ratings of Congress is the American people will not stand for rewarding illegal immigrants with such an amnesty. Once the Democrats get it through their head that amnesty for illegal immigrants, unprotected borders and lack of enforcement is unacceptable to the American people maybe then the ratings of congress will improve.

Spitzer to drop drivers license for illegals

"ALBANY, Nov. 13 — Gov. Eliot Spitzer is abandoning his plan to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, saying that opposition is just too overwhelming to move forward with such a policy."-New York Times

Well, there may be hope for Spitzer after all. At least there is hope for our democracy. Listening to the people and not rewarding those here illegally is a good policy. Let's hope that more of the politicians in Washington get the message that New York Governor Spitzer got and act accordingly.

What are the costs?

A Washington Post by Daniel de Vise like many liberal mainstream media news organizations on illegal immigration puts out some smokey journalism. The latest is about how little English students attending schools in the DC area know. Of course there is no mention of illegal immigration in the article or of the costs to the legal taxpayers who pay for the schools. Here are some of the money quotes:

"This year, for the first time, more than half the students at the Silver Spring school spoke limited English. It's a milestone for the school and for the Montgomery County school system, where the term "English language learners" was seldom heard before the middle of the last decade."

A milestone for the school? Is that a good thing to have half the student population speaking limited or no English?

"The population of students learning English is rising briskly in school systems in the Washington suburbs. Elementary school students with limited English proficiency (LEP) now number 20,000 in Fairfax, 10,000 in Montgomery, 9,000 in Prince William and 8,000 in Prince George's counties. Just seven years ago, those four counties accounted for 23,000 elementary-grade LEP students."

Thanks to George Bush, open border Democrats and cheap labor businesses who allowed the illegal immigrant population to soar in this country. The burden to pay for additional English language programs falls on the middle class taxpayers of the school districts which the article makes no mention of.

"Students often arrive at Highland unable to read, write or speak fluently in Spanish or English. In response, the school has placed a growing emphasis on pre-kindergarten and Head Start, which, as of this year, is a full-day program. Sixty of this year's 97 kindergartners attended pre-K programs at Highland."

Guess who is paying for these programs? The illegals? Guess again.

"Families sometimes live three or four to a home."

So even though the house where the families live pays some school taxes. With three or more families are living in the house the increased burden falls on the legal one family households in the district. Hola suckers!

Hillary Clinton's Jeff Gannon moment

Hypocrisy in politics? I am shocked. It seems the Hillary Clinton's campaign has been using people planted in the audience to ask questions at some of her campaign stops. Many Democrats including this one where outraged when the White House use a similar technique using "journalist" Jeff Gannon to lob softball questions to President Bush at a White House press conference. People should be equally outraged by the actions of the Clinton campaign.

Bank of America profits going down. What a surprise!

"In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the bank said it has some exposure to collateralized debt obligations _ complex financial instruments that combine slices of different kinds of risk. CDOs are often partly backed by subprime mortgages, or loans given to customers with poor credit history."-AP

TRANSLATION: I guess the great financial geniuses at The Bank of America who came up with the plan to give credit cards and sub prime mortgage loans to illegal immigrants may not have had such a great business idea after all. What's next? Listen to this guy:

Norman Mailer

Norman Mailer has died. When I think of Norman Mailer I recall going to The Laundry restaurant in East Hampton Long Island a number pf years ago. As luck would have it we were seated next to a table with Norman Mailer and a woman companion. I don't recall hearing any conversation between the two and certainly Mailer did not look like he was in the mood for any. That's the Norman Mailer I know. He may be dead but, his ego lives on and I'll head butt anybody who says different.

Bernake & Schumer's B.S. solution

From the Washington Post:

"The economy is likely to slow through the first half of 2008, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said yesterday, as members of Congress called on him to take aggressive action to prevent a worsening mortgage crisis."

I have to dissagree. Like rewarding illegal immigrants with driver's licenses you do not correct bad behavior by bailing out the banks and those who got sub prime loans with a bailout as Washington seems intent on doing. Here is exhibit A:

"Among other steps, Schumer said, Bernanke should move quickly on a series of regulatory policy changes to prevent banks from making irresponsible mortgage loans and use his stature to convince the Bush administration to provide federal money for nonprofit organizations that help people with mortgage problems."

Schumer is wrong in following in the footsteps of George Bush by trying to funnel taxpayer money to these "non profit organizations". Anytime taxpayer money money gets further away from the government there is less oversight and is more open to abuse no matter how noble the idea is.

Clinton: Drivers licenses for illegals complicated. Huh?

Now Bill Clinton is trying to defend the indefensible:

"At the end of a televised Democratic presidential debate last week, Hillary Rodham Clinton hedged on whether she supported a plan by her home state governor, New York's Eliot Spitzer, to issue licenses to illegal immigrants. Republicans — and her rivals for the Democratic nomination — quickly criticized her answer, accusing her of trying to have it both ways.
But Bill Clinton said the issue is too complicated for sound bites." -
AP

Too complicated Bill? How's this:

Illegal immigrants have the right to be deported.
Not a right to get a drivers license
-
See Bill it's not complicated at all.

Clinton, Spitzer and voter fraud.

Speaking of threats to democracy, Forget Pakistan there is a more immediate threat to our own democracy. Hillary Clinton says she knows why Eliot Spitzer wants to give illegal immigrants a license. I'll bet she does:

"The background here is the National Voter Registration Act, commonly known as 'Motor Voter,' that President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1993. It required all states to offer voter registration to anyone getting a driver's license. One simply fills out a form and checks a box stating he is a citizen; he is then registered and in most states does not have to show any ID to vote.

"But no one checks if the person registering to vote is indeed a citizen. ...

"Under pressure from liberal groups, some states have even abandoned the requirement that people check a citizenship box to be put on the voter rolls. Iowa has told local registrars they should register people even if they leave the citizenship box blank. Maryland officials wave illegal immigrants through the registration process, prompting a Justice Department letter warning they may be helping people violate federal law."-
Washington Times

Is diabolical too strong of a word for this threat to our democracy by people like New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and others like Hillary Clinton. I think not.

P.S. Remember today is election day VOTE!

George Bush's Shahing moment.

As people get arrested and Pakistan goes under Marshall Law. George Bush in a White House photo op is hopping mad and tells General Musharraf to take off his uniform. Looks like people seem to have forgotten about the Shah of Iran and how it works out in the end when you tolerate tyrannies because the tyrant is friendly to us. Here is the money quote:

"A Bush administration official who works on Pakistan issues acknowledged that with the United States having already invested so much in General Musharraf, there was little Washington could do in response to the Pakistani president’s actions that did not have the potential to undermine American goals."-New York Times

Monday, November 05, 2007

You can take this to the bank.

" NEW YORK, Nov. 4 -- Citigroup has installed former Treasury secretary Robert Rubin as chairman after the widely anticipated resignation of Charles Prince, the embattled chairman and chief executive who faced mounting criticism in the wake of a $6.5 billion write-down for the third quarter.
After an emergency board meeting Sunday, Citigroup, citing significant declines in the value of subprime-related securities in the past month, estimated that it would take additional write-downs of $8 billion to $11 billion."
- Washington Post

How could this have happened? Just because the banks had tapped out America's middle class and started giving out subprime loans to people who had no ability to repay them. That seems like an ok business practice. I mean when they give out a $650,000 mortgage to an illegal immigrant making $18,000 a year. What could go wrong? Adios Citibank, Hola Bank of America.

First we kill the Day Traders.

As many middle class tax payers head off to work and take another non employer pay cut due to the increased price of gasoline in their commute. Some of the more intellectually curious among them may be asking the question why have prices risen so fast? There may be an answer in today's Washington Post. Here are the money quotes:

"In the past 10 weeks, the price of crude oil has shot up $25 a barrel, closing at $95.93 in New York on Friday, near an all-time inflation-adjusted peak. Unlike earlier spikes in oil prices, which came on the heels of war in the Middle East, this latest ascent does not appear to be linked to any one conflict or to any physical shortage.
Instead, traders who treat oil like any other commodity are widely thought to be driving prices upward, bolstered by a weak dollar and money flowing out of stock markets and other investment vehicles. "

To paraphrase William Shakespeare "First we kill the Day Traders" or at least cut their fiber, high speed cable and phone lines.

Is Real ID a real problem? I don't think so.

The Washington Post has an article about how the Department of Homeland Security may be backing down on the Real ID program and pushing it's implementation back to 2018. Because some states are whining they can't take the time to really make sure the people getting a license are who they say they are. You can't make this stuff up. Here is the money quote:

"In 2005, Congress passed legislation mandating Real ID to standardize information that must be included on licenses, including a digital photograph, a signature and machine-readable features such as a bar code. Under the law, states also must verify applicants' citizenship status, check identity documents such as birth certificates, and cross-check information with other states and with Social Security, immigration and State Department databases. The new licenses must include features to thwart forgery and fraud, and drivers born after 1935 will have to present birth certificates or passports to obtain them. "

And the problem is? I wonder if any of the states that complain about the burden of complying have ever heard of computer technology? Businesses can find out almost instantly your credit history but, states are crying it's too much of a burden to find out if the individual requesting a license is actually who they say they are. Oh I forgot they are governmental organizations,

The View from Washington

During my extended stay in Washington I decided to head over to the National Gallery of Art on Thursday to see the Edward Hopper exhibit. As I crossed Pennsylvania Ave. I noticed there was virtually no cars on the street even though it was midday. So I took this shot of the Capitol. I soon found out why there were no cars.

It seems Bush, Cheney or both were off to somewhere and that's why the streets were empty of cars. Because I was taking this picture I could not give the proper salute that I really wanted to give.

A writers strike may be a good thing.

There is a writers strike set for Monday. This could be a good thing. The world may be a better place if people start getting away from such lean back technologies as corporate television and actually start watching or producing their own content on places like You Tube, writing blogs and maybe actually reading a paper or a book.

The greening of New York City

My girlfriend and I attended the annual Conservation International dinner here in Washington D.C. last night. We donate to this organization because of it's efforts to protect and promote sustainability of the earths resources around the world. Last nights speaker was Republican New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Who through New York's PLAN NYC is probably going to do more to help the planet than Al Gore and his Power Point presentation. As an example there is requirement of all the owners of NYC taxis (which need to be replaced every seven years) to become more fuel efficient either through buying hybrid vehicles or other high mileage vehicles. This move alone is the equivalent of removing 32,000 vehicles off the streets. Bloomberg is leading the way in this and other energy saving goals for the city. He may be making more of an impact on helping the earth than all of Al Gore's talk. He and his administration deserve much credit for moving things forward. in regards to energy conservation. Now about that Sanctuary City policy Mayor Bloomberg.

From the desk of Donald Rumsfeld

There was an interesting article in the Washington Post about the "snowflakes" aka memos that Donald Rumsfeld wrote while he was Secretary of Defense. Whenever I hear about Rumsfeld I often recall some of my posts which were often critical of him and the way the war was going. One of the posts had someone someone from the Office of Secretary of Defense looking at it two times that day. I have always wondered who that might have been and why.

Hey Hillary Clinton! I got your shadow right here.

It appears that some in the mainstream media are finally waking up to the issue of illegal immigration. It was certainly highlighted as an issue that Clinton has been trying to avoid. At the Democratic debate her liberal mindset showed where her feelings on the issue are. They certainly are not with her constituents in New York State or in the rest of the country. So her campaign people are in full damage control mode:

"Senator Clinton supports governors like Governor Spitzer who believe they need such a measure to deal with the crisis caused by this administration's failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform. As President, her goal will be to pass comprehensive immigration reform that would make this unnecessary," the statement said. Campaign advisers, pressed to explain her view more clearly, said that she ultimately supports the driver's-license proposal." -Washington Post

Translation: Because George Bush and some of the Democrats had failed to push the Illegal Immigrant Amnesty Bill through the Senate against the wishes of the American people where she could have swept the illegal immigrant problem under the rug. She is now forced to side with Governor Spitzer because giving drivers licenses to illegals may allow for enough massive voter fraud allowing her and the Democratic party to win the elections.

Clinton and Spitzer keep blowing smoke on the issue with statements like that by giving licenses to illegal immigrants will allow them to "come out of the shadows":

Does this look like the illegal immigrants are hiding in the shadows Hillary?

What's next from Hillary Clinton? Perhaps Scrappleface has a tongue in cheek look at Clinton/Spitzers next big idea:

"2007-11-01) — As Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton continues to work round the clock with advisers to determine exactly how she feels about granting automobile driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, the Senator today announced she may support New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer’s new proposal to allow undocumented workers to receive airline transport pilot certification from the FAA, allowing them to fly commercial jets.
“Giving a pre-documented immigrant a license to fly a jumbo jet would certainly bring him out of the shadows,” said Sen. Clinton. “In addition, since the flight certificate requires fluency in English, it would inspire him to learn one of our nation’s most important languages. So there’s a big potential upside.”

Bringing Democrats out of the shadows.

In a New York Times article by LESLIE WAYNE which deals with the hidden agenda of the Democrats to register Hispanic voters. But, true to the liberal bias of the New York Times the article does not even mention the 800 pound gorilla in the country i.e. illegal immigrants at all in the entire article. While I am a registered Democrat I have this crazy notion that our elected officials should represent the wishes of the people. Though the actions of Dems like Eliot Spitzer to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants seem to show the Dems have other ideas. It's not about representing the people it's about staying in power. Those two ideas are not the same. Here are the money quotes:

"At La Favorita, a Mexican grocery store here, there is plenty of food for sale — and also a new brand of politics.A handwritten sign, hanging over the door, proclaims in Spanish: “Wake up! Register to vote! It is the hour to unite and change our future, the future of our children — and the future of this country!”

I just wonder which country and whose future the Democrats are talking about here. It certainly seems it's not the middle class voters. Of course the Democrats are trying to hide their real political agenda from the citizens:

“Democratic strategists know that the Latino vote is their future,” said Hector Avalos, a professor and founder of the U.S. Latino Studies program at Iowa State University. “But they are having to handle this with kid gloves. They don’t want to anger native Iowans. But they know that there could potentially be millions of new voters nationwide. Democrats are sort of treading lightly, and trying to appease both sides.”

When the the Democrats like the illegal immigrants try to hide their real agenda and continue to ignore the wishes of the people. They do so at their own peril. I also think the temptation to commit voter fraud by the Democrats using the illegal immigrant population in their thirst for political power is a very real possibility. This is not just a threat to the Republicans but, a threat to our Democracy and everyone should be concerned about that no matter what party you are with.

Spitzer still does not get it!

How many times do we have to hit a Democrat like New York Governor Eliott Spitzer over the head until we get his attention. Here is the latest example of Spitzer's mouth running without thinking:

"There is also opposition from fringe on the other side who simply don't want to give the immigrant community any rights."

Governor it is amazing that you were ever Attorney General. Because you seem to have never learned the difference between legal and illegal. Until you do you will continue to make the same mistake. Also if you think that the 75% of the citizens of New York State who are against giving illegal immigrants a license are a "fringe" element I'd like to know who you would consider to be the majority? As far as rights for ILLEGAL immigrants they do have one right. The right to be deported! Not a right to get a drivers license.

Sunday, October 28, 2007

Is Eliott Spitzer deaf?

At first look it appears that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer backed down from the idiotic policy of rewarding illegal immigrants with the right to get a New York State drivers license. But, no Spitzer still wants to go ahead with giving these lawbreakers a license and he wants to make it cheaper and so they can renew by mail. I'm not sure Chertoff was rolled by Spitzer but, he did say something that Spitzer and other New York State politicians need to read real slow:

"I do not endorse and I do not think it's a good idea to give undocumented workers licenses or IDs of any kind,"- Michael Chertoff

Did you hear that Governor Spitzer? Apparently not:

"Backing away from his vow to give immigrants the same licenses as citizens, Spitzer announced a compromise deal with the Bush administration to create three kinds of licenses - two that comply with federal law, and one illegal immigrants can obtain."

What exactly is Spitzer's idea of correcting this situation:

"We're on our way to offering to New Yorkers the option of three secure licenses to drive and travel in this state, in this country and throughout the Western Hemisphere," Spitzer said at Homeland Security Department headquarters.

Hey idiot the whole purpose is to not make it easier for those here illegally to travel. That way we encourage people to come here legally and become citizens and don't make it easier for terrorists. Maybe that's why in appearing with Spitzer, DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff said the enhanced licenses "address our concerns," but also made it crystal-clear - four times - that he's not thrilled at the illegal immigrant component. It seems Spitzer still did not hear that. I guess we citizens will have to speak a little louder.

Illegal fire!

The New York Times has an article about how the California wildfires are flushing out the illegals camped out in the area of the wildfires. Some have even been killed. But, as usual the Times tries to ignore and downplay the fact that the origin of these fires may have been the campfires of the illegal immigrants themselves:

"Some people have speculated, including on the Web, that immigrants might have set some of the fires, as has occurred with campfires lighted in fields.
The authorities have not given any causes linked to immigration."
{BCP Media Bias Alert! That should be ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION""

Then maybe the fires were not so accidental. Here is the money quote:

"For the immigrants, the fires may have dried up some work. But some speculate on strong work prospects like cleanups. By early afternoon near a heavily damaged neighborhood in the Rancho Bernardo area, four men stood on a corner, waiting for work offers.
“It is a shame what happened,” said a man who gave just his first name, Miguelito. “But we think there will be jobs to clean or build.”

Uh Huh! Whoops there it is!

The New York (read between the lines) Times

You just got to love how the liberal reporters and editors at the New York Times keep trying to spin and sugarcoat an issue like illegal immigration. Doing it on the editorial page is one thing but, look at this journalistic Orwellian slight of hand spin in the lead paragraph:

"At last, Moira had a home of her own, her first. She began to set up utility accounts. The phone company wanted a Social Security number and bank information. Moira has neither. Like a million or so others in New York, she is an immigrant without papers."

TRANSLATION: She is an illegal immigrant!

It's not fair! The Dream Act defeated without me.

I have been trying to call my Senators (Clinton and Schumer) since this morning. Early on I got through to Senator Clinton's voice mail. But, it was full and I could not leave a message. I was never able to get through again. Even the Senate Switchboard had a busy signal. So I finally called Senator Clinton's Long Island office and was told it was defeated. It's not fair they did not hear from me yet. Seems there are more and more people getting outraged enough to call about illegal immigration. Washington had better start listening.

Time to smack some Senators again!

Like bad puppies there are some Senators who take a while to learn. So we need to smack some sense into them with our phone calls. As the Kausfiles and others report Senator Dick Durbin and Harry Reid are attempting to bring up the backdoor amnesty bill (S.2205) aka "The Dream Act: Here's the background and the numbers to call to smack some sense in the Senate. YOU NEED TO CALL TODAY TO STOP THIS NONSENSE!:

"The DREAM Act will grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and help them pay college tuition at taxpayer expense. Please note that S.2205, unlike some versions of the bill, now has an age limit of 30. There is, however, NO CAP on the number of people who may receive amnesty under the DREAM Act. Moreover, to make even more people eligible for amnesty under the program, Homeland Security may waive the following offenses:

Failure to show up in court;
Obtaining visas by fraud;
Alien smuggling;
Document fraud;
Violation of student visas;
Marriage fraud;
Falsely claiming citizenship;
Voter fraud.

Once an illegal alien applies for legal status under the DREAM Act, he or she may not be removed— FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER—while the application is pending. Furthermore, the educational requirements in the bill are virtually meaningless as Homeland Security may waive the application of them if the alien can show "compelling circumstances for the inability to complete the requirements." And, illegal aliens who obtain amnesty under this bill will likely become eligible for in-state tuition and for federal financial aid.

You can contact any of these Senators' D.C. offices
by calling the toll-free switchboard at 1-866-340-9281
also . . . . 202-224-3121

TIP: Don't give speeches. Be EXTREMELY short, firm and polite.
Say it in your own words: "I'm a voter and I'll be voting in November 2008"
" I AM OPPOSED TO THE bad DREAM ACT Senate Bil 2205 "
I WANT BORDER SECURITY NOW - NO AMNESTY, NO GUEST WORKER SCHEMES.
If "corrected" by staff that this bill is not "amnesty" say
that you are a voter and that if you say it is amnesty, then IT IS AMNESTY! "- Tony Dolz

Why is Hillary Clinton pandering to illegal immigrants?

Seems Hillary Clinton is not worried about what is good for America. She is only doing what she and her advisers think will be good to get her elected. As her advisor Mark Penn blabbed to a British magazine:

"Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s chief strategist, Mark Penn, told a British magazine last week that illegal immigrants “may be the most powerful political force in the country.”"- National Review

Obviously the Clinton Campaign thinks they can win by just pandering to the illegal immigrants. Somebody had better tell her that it's the American citizens who are the ones who can legally vote. But, as the NR points out that her quotes and positions may come back to haunt her:

"The problem for Penn is that meeting the demands of the elites who claim to speak for immigrants —amnesty for illegals, ever-looser enforcement, increased legal immigration — holds the real potential to radicalize Americans, making immigration a much higher-saliency issue than it usually is — and that’s not a micro-trend.”

Yes, there's that little problem of the American voter that Hillary will have to answer to. Her record speaks for its self and on illegal immigration Hillary is not speaking for the American people and voters.

More useless human stuff.

The earth would be better off if people would lose the "me too" attitude for vanity. Andrew Sullivan has a little item about a technique of embedding small metal disks under the skin of blind people. This raises the skin and creates a tattoo for these blind people. File this under useless, frivolous and unneeded. Where will this nonsense stop!

Speaking of energy

The natural gas meter for my house is located inside my house. Because my life keeps me on the go quite a bit it seems I have never been home when the meter reader comes by. So it has been a long time since the meter was read. So I went to Gas utilities website a few days later to see what the bill would be. Since I have modified my 1980's installed solar hot water system to provide heat for the house I figured that the gas company's estimated billing should give me some savings. They still had an estimated bill number for the account balance. Strange I thought the meter readers updated numbers should have been entered by now. So I tried to enter the actual gas meter numbers my self. The Gas Company's computer kicked it back saying: "According to our projections regarding usage you should have a reading of 1120-1175 ( my actual reading was 848). It refused to believe the numbers so i had to call a talk to a person and explain I have modified my solar hot water panels to provide heat into the house and have also made other solar and energy efficient changes to my fifty year old house to help heat it. She finally entered the new numbers into the computer and I receive a new updated bill with a $650 credit. Kaching! Houston you do have a problem because I have only begun to make energy efficient modifications to the rancho de BCP. My personal energy plan is about more money in my pocket and less heading to Houston and Saudi Arabia. Stay tuned!

Solar Decathalon and the winner is...

I was down at the mall last week here in Washington D.C. where the Solar Decathlon was being held. This is a competition from universities around the world where students compete to build an energy efficient house. This years winner is Technische Universität Darmstadt who come from Germany. Which incidentally is going very heavy into solar power for energy use. Surprising to see that Al Gore did not show up I guess he's too busy after his winning the Nobel Peace prize for his power point demonstration to show up. Also missing was President George Bush who despite the fact that the Solar Decathlon was being held only a two minute walk from the back door of the White House never showed up. He went fishing instead or should I say fission.

Another reason why I won't be voting for Hillary

Well, Hillary Clinton has giving this lifelong registered Democrat another reason not to vote for her. She suppports New York Governor Spitzer's rewarding illegal immigrants with a drivers license"

" I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT GOVERNOR SPITZER’S TRYING TO DO AND IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE, because he’s trying to get people out of the shadows. He’s trying to say,“O.K., come forward and we will give you this license.”- Hillary Clinton

Yeah he is also saying it's ok to break our laws we will still reward you with the right to drive. Jeez. First she agrees with George Bush and now she agrees with the deranged Idiot Spitzer. She wants to bring the illegals "out of the shadows". Have her come out here to my middle class community. I'll show here plenty of illegals who are standing around and they are not in the shadows. They are flaunting their illegality because of the failures of those in the Federal Government like her and Bush who have failed to protect our borders and enforce our immigration laws. Hillary Clinton like George Bush and Eliot Spitzer just don't get it:
"WHEN YOU REWARD ILLEGALITY YOU GET MORE OF IT!"

Do you feel safe yet?

A Mexican national infected with a highly contagious form of tuberculosis crossed the U.S. border 76 times and took multiple domestic flights in the past year, according to Customs and Border Protection interviews and documents obtained by The Washington Times.

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency was warned by health officials on April 16 that the frequent traveler was infected, but it took Homeland Security officials more than six weeks to issue a May 31 alert to warn its own border inspectors, according to Homeland Security sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. Homeland Security took a further week to tell its own Transportation Security Agency.

Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a highly contagious illness and also resistant to the two most commonly used drugs to treat TB.

Of course he just wanted to come here to work and spread a communicable drug resistant form of tuberculosis. At least he's not a terrorist. Though he could be standing behind you in the DMV waiting to get an Eliot Spitzer's drivers license for illegal immigrants. Be sure to say Hola to him.

Idiotic Voices for Connecticut Children

I get a kick out of groups with sympathetic sounding names like the Connecticut Voices for Children who released a press release yesterday. If they get their way the Connecticut taxpayers had better hold onto their wallets. The "do gooders" at Connecticut Voices for Children want the Connecticut taxpayers to subsidize the illegal immigrants even more than they do already. Of course these groups are disingenuous because they do not differentiate legal immigrants from illegal immigrants. They have this head in the sand approach to illegal immigration. But, of they want more special classes for the children of "immigrants" and other special programs that will of cost Connecticut taxpayers more. I have to laugh because this same group released another press release around labor day complaining about how the wages of Connecticut workers have fallen. HEY IDIOTS! Do you think that the reason the wages of Connecticut workers have fallen is because of the influx of illegal immigrants? Duh!
