Bringing Democrats out of the shadows.

In a New York Times article by LESLIE WAYNE which deals with the hidden agenda of the Democrats to register Hispanic voters. But, true to the liberal bias of the New York Times the article does not even mention the 800 pound gorilla in the country i.e. illegal immigrants at all in the entire article. While I am a registered Democrat I have this crazy notion that our elected officials should represent the wishes of the people. Though the actions of Dems like Eliot Spitzer to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants seem to show the Dems have other ideas. It's not about representing the people it's about staying in power. Those two ideas are not the same. Here are the money quotes:

"At La Favorita, a Mexican grocery store here, there is plenty of food for sale — and also a new brand of politics.A handwritten sign, hanging over the door, proclaims in Spanish: “Wake up! Register to vote! It is the hour to unite and change our future, the future of our children — and the future of this country!”

I just wonder which country and whose future the Democrats are talking about here. It certainly seems it's not the middle class voters. Of course the Democrats are trying to hide their real political agenda from the citizens:

“Democratic strategists know that the Latino vote is their future,” said Hector Avalos, a professor and founder of the U.S. Latino Studies program at Iowa State University. “But they are having to handle this with kid gloves. They don’t want to anger native Iowans. But they know that there could potentially be millions of new voters nationwide. Democrats are sort of treading lightly, and trying to appease both sides.”

When the the Democrats like the illegal immigrants try to hide their real agenda and continue to ignore the wishes of the people. They do so at their own peril. I also think the temptation to commit voter fraud by the Democrats using the illegal immigrant population in their thirst for political power is a very real possibility. This is not just a threat to the Republicans but, a threat to our Democracy and everyone should be concerned about that no matter what party you are with.

Spitzer still does not get it!

How many times do we have to hit a Democrat like New York Governor Eliott Spitzer over the head until we get his attention. Here is the latest example of Spitzer's mouth running without thinking:

"There is also opposition from fringe on the other side who simply don't want to give the immigrant community any rights."

Governor it is amazing that you were ever Attorney General. Because you seem to have never learned the difference between legal and illegal. Until you do you will continue to make the same mistake. Also if you think that the 75% of the citizens of New York State who are against giving illegal immigrants a license are a "fringe" element I'd like to know who you would consider to be the majority? As far as rights for ILLEGAL immigrants they do have one right. The right to be deported! Not a right to get a drivers license.

Is Eliott Spitzer deaf?

At first look it appears that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer backed down from the idiotic policy of rewarding illegal immigrants with the right to get a New York State drivers license. But, no Spitzer still wants to go ahead with giving these lawbreakers a license and he wants to make it cheaper and so they can renew by mail. I'm not sure Chertoff was rolled by Spitzer but, he did say something that Spitzer and other New York State politicians need to read real slow:

"I do not endorse and I do not think it's a good idea to give undocumented workers licenses or IDs of any kind,"- Michael Chertoff

Did you hear that Governor Spitzer? Apparently not:

"Backing away from his vow to give immigrants the same licenses as citizens, Spitzer announced a compromise deal with the Bush administration to create three kinds of licenses - two that comply with federal law, and one illegal immigrants can obtain."

What exactly is Spitzer's idea of correcting this situation:

"We're on our way to offering to New Yorkers the option of three secure licenses to drive and travel in this state, in this country and throughout the Western Hemisphere," Spitzer said at Homeland Security Department headquarters.

Hey idiot the whole purpose is to not make it easier for those here illegally to travel. That way we encourage people to come here legally and become citizens and don't make it easier for terrorists. Maybe that's why in appearing with Spitzer, DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff said the enhanced licenses "address our concerns," but also made it crystal-clear - four times - that he's not thrilled at the illegal immigrant component. It seems Spitzer still did not hear that. I guess we citizens will have to speak a little louder.

Illegal fire!

The New York Times has an article about how the California wildfires are flushing out the illegals camped out in the area of the wildfires. Some have even been killed. But, as usual the Times tries to ignore and downplay the fact that the origin of these fires may have been the campfires of the illegal immigrants themselves:

"Some people have speculated, including on the Web, that immigrants might have set some of the fires, as has occurred with campfires lighted in fields.
The authorities have not given any causes linked to immigration."
{BCP Media Bias Alert! That should be ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION""

Then maybe the fires were not so accidental. Here is the money quote:

"For the immigrants, the fires may have dried up some work. But some speculate on strong work prospects like cleanups. By early afternoon near a heavily damaged neighborhood in the Rancho Bernardo area, four men stood on a corner, waiting for work offers.
“It is a shame what happened,” said a man who gave just his first name, Miguelito. “But we think there will be jobs to clean or build.”

Uh Huh! Whoops there it is!

The New York (read between the lines) Times

You just got to love how the liberal reporters and editors at the New York Times keep trying to spin and sugarcoat an issue like illegal immigration. Doing it on the editorial page is one thing but, look at this journalistic Orwellian slight of hand spin in the lead paragraph:

"At last, Moira had a home of her own, her first. She began to set up utility accounts. The phone company wanted a Social Security number and bank information. Moira has neither. Like a million or so others in New York, she is an immigrant without papers."

TRANSLATION: She is an illegal immigrant!

Please someone alert Howard Kurtz at Reliable Sources!

It's not fair! The Dream Act defeated without me.

I have been trying to call my Senators (Clinton and Schumer) since this morning. Early on I got through to Senator Clinton's voice mail. But, it was full and I could not leave a message. I was never able to get through again. Even the Senate Switchboard had a busy signal. So I finally called Senator Clinton's Long Island office and was told it was defeated. It's not fair they did not hear from me yet. Seems there are more and more people getting outraged enough to call about illegal immigration. Washington had better start listening.

Time to smack some Senators again!

Like bad puppies there are some Senators who take a while to learn. So we need to smack some sense into them with our phone calls. As the Kausfiles and others report Senator Dick Durbin and Harry Reid are attempting to bring up the backdoor amnesty bill (S.2205) aka "The Dream Act: Here's the background and the numbers to call to smack some sense in the Senate. YOU NEED TO CALL TODAY TO STOP THIS NONSENSE!:

"The DREAM Act will grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and help them pay college tuition at taxpayer expense. Please note that S.2205, unlike some versions of the bill, now has an age limit of 30. There is, however, NO CAP on the number of people who may receive amnesty under the DREAM Act. Moreover, to make even more people eligible for amnesty under the program, Homeland Security may waive the following offenses:

Failure to show up in court;
Obtaining visas by fraud;
Alien smuggling;
Document fraud;
Violation of student visas;
Marriage fraud;
Falsely claiming citizenship;
Voter fraud.

Once an illegal alien applies for legal status under the DREAM Act, he or she may not be removed— FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER—while the application is pending. Furthermore, the educational requirements in the bill are virtually meaningless as Homeland Security may waive the application of them if the alien can show "compelling circumstances for the inability to complete the requirements." And, illegal aliens who obtain amnesty under this bill will likely become eligible for in-state tuition and for federal financial aid.

You can contact any of these Senators' D.C. offices
by calling the toll-free switchboard at 1-866-340-9281
also . . . . 202-224-3121

TIP: Don't give speeches. Be EXTREMELY short, firm and polite.
Say it in your own words: "I'm a voter and I'll be voting in November 2008"
" I AM OPPOSED TO THE bad DREAM ACT Senate Bil 2205 "
I WANT BORDER SECURITY NOW - NO AMNESTY, NO GUEST WORKER SCHEMES.
If "corrected" by staff that this bill is not "amnesty" say
that you are a voter and that if you say it is amnesty, then IT IS AMNESTY! "- Tony Dolz

Why is Hillary Clinton pandering to illegal immigrants?

Seems Hillary Clinton is not worried about what is good for America. She is only doing what she and her advisers think will be good to get her elected. As her advisor Mark Penn blabbed to a British magazine:

"Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s chief strategist, Mark Penn, told a British magazine last week that illegal immigrants “may be the most powerful political force in the country.”"- National Review

Obviously the Clinton Campaign thinks they can win by just pandering to the illegal immigrants. Somebody had better tell her that it's the American citizens who are the ones who can legally vote. But, as the NR points out that her quotes and positions may come back to haunt her:

"The problem for Penn is that meeting the demands of the elites who claim to speak for immigrants —amnesty for illegals, ever-looser enforcement, increased legal immigration — holds the real potential to radicalize Americans, making immigration a much higher-saliency issue than it usually is — and that’s not a micro-trend.”

Yes, there's that little problem of the American voter that Hillary will have to answer to. Her record speaks for its self and on illegal immigration Hillary is not speaking for the American people and voters.

More useless human stuff.

The earth would be better off if people would lose the "me too" attitude for vanity. Andrew Sullivan has a little item about a technique of embedding small metal disks under the skin of blind people. This raises the skin and creates a tattoo for these blind people. File this under useless, frivolous and unneeded. Where will this nonsense stop!

Speaking of energy

The natural gas meter for my house is located inside my house. Because my life keeps me on the go quite a bit it seems I have never been home when the meter reader comes by. So it has been a long time since the meter was read. So I went to Gas utilities website a few days later to see what the bill would be. Since I have modified my 1980's installed solar hot water system to provide heat for the house I figured that the gas company's estimated billing should give me some savings. They still had an estimated bill number for the account balance. Strange I thought the meter readers updated numbers should have been entered by now. So I tried to enter the actual gas meter numbers my self. The Gas Company's computer kicked it back saying: "According to our projections regarding usage you should have a reading of 1120-1175 ( my actual reading was 848). It refused to believe the numbers so i had to call a talk to a person and explain I have modified my solar hot water panels to provide heat into the house and have also made other solar and energy efficient changes to my fifty year old house to help heat it. She finally entered the new numbers into the computer and I receive a new updated bill with a $650 credit. Kaching! Houston you do have a problem because I have only begun to make energy efficient modifications to the rancho de BCP. My personal energy plan is about more money in my pocket and less heading to Houston and Saudi Arabia. Stay tuned!

Solar Decathalon and the winner is...

I was down at the mall last week here in Washington D.C. where the Solar Decathlon was being held. This is a competition from universities around the world where students compete to build an energy efficient house. This years winner is Technische Universität Darmstadt who come from Germany. Which incidentally is going very heavy into solar power for energy use. Surprising to see that Al Gore did not show up I guess he's too busy after his winning the Nobel Peace prize for his power point demonstration to show up. Also missing was President George Bush who despite the fact that the Solar Decathlon was being held only a two minute walk from the back door of the White House never showed up. He went fishing instead or should I say fission.

Another reason why I won't be voting for Hillary

Well, Hillary Clinton has giving this lifelong registered Democrat another reason not to vote for her. She suppports New York Governor Spitzer's rewarding illegal immigrants with a drivers license"

" I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT GOVERNOR SPITZER’S TRYING TO DO AND IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE, because he’s trying to get people out of the shadows. He’s trying to say,“O.K., come forward and we will give you this license.”- Hillary Clinton

Yeah he is also saying it's ok to break our laws we will still reward you with the right to drive. Jeez. First she agrees with George Bush and now she agrees with the deranged Idiot Spitzer. She wants to bring the illegals "out of the shadows". Have her come out here to my middle class community. I'll show here plenty of illegals who are standing around and they are not in the shadows. They are flaunting their illegality because of the failures of those in the Federal Government like her and Bush who have failed to protect our borders and enforce our immigration laws. Hillary Clinton like George Bush and Eliot Spitzer just don't get it:
"WHEN YOU REWARD ILLEGALITY YOU GET MORE OF IT!"

Do you feel safe yet?

A Mexican national infected with a highly contagious form of tuberculosis crossed the U.S. border 76 times and took multiple domestic flights in the past year, according to Customs and Border Protection interviews and documents obtained by The Washington Times.

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency was warned by health officials on April 16 that the frequent traveler was infected, but it took Homeland Security officials more than six weeks to issue a May 31 alert to warn its own border inspectors, according to Homeland Security sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. Homeland Security took a further week to tell its own Transportation Security Agency.

Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a highly contagious illness and also resistant to the two most commonly used drugs to treat TB.
- Washington Times

Of course he just wanted to come here to work and spread a communicable drug resistant form of tuberculosis. At least he's not a terrorist. Though he could be standing behind you in the DMV waiting to get an Eliot Spitzer's drivers license for illegal immigrants. Be sure to say Hola to him.

Idiotic Voices for Connecticut Children

I get a kick out of groups with sympathetic sounding names like the Connecticut Voices for Children who released a press release yesterday. If they get their way the Connecticut taxpayers had better hold onto their wallets. The "do gooders" at Connecticut Voices for Children want the Connecticut taxpayers to subsidize the illegal immigrants even more than they do already. Of course these groups are disingenuous because they do not differentiate legal immigrants from illegal immigrants. They have this head in the sand approach to illegal immigration. But, of they want more special classes for the children of "immigrants" and other special programs that will of cost Connecticut taxpayers more. I have to laugh because this same group released another press release around labor day complaining about how the wages of Connecticut workers have fallen. HEY IDIOTS! Do you think that the reason the wages of Connecticut workers have fallen is because of the influx of illegal immigrants? Duh!

New Yorkers oppose Spitzer's license plan. Ya think?

"Seventy-two percent of voters in Monday's Siena College poll said they were opposed to "the governor's plan to allow undocumented immigrants to get New York driver's licenses." Twenty-two percent of those polled supported the plan of the once widely popular governor, according to the Siena Research Institute"

Hard to say why New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is pushing ahead with his plan for rewarding illegal immigrants with a drivers license. Is it because he is as stubborn as George W. Bush? Is it his payback to the Latino groups who supported him? Even though I think giving illegal immigrants a drivers license will hurt legal and American Latinos more than any other group in terms of job prospects. Or is it he is really clueless and has not thought the issue through? He just does not seem to realize that rewarding people who have broken the law is not a good policy for any government. Here are some money quotes from Spitzer and his gang on the issue:

"The policy change is critical to ensuring the safety and security of New Yorkers and the governor would never abdicate this foremost obligation simply to appease those peddling fear and hatred," Spitzer spokeswoman Christine Anderson said after the hearing. "

It's not fear and hatred Ms. Anderson It's about stopping stupid government actions like rewarding people who have broken the law with the privilege of a drivers license. I am so sick of idiots like her and the pro illegal groups painting everyone as racist and haters. When all people want is that the people who come into our country and community to obey our laws. Is that to much to ask. Apparently it is when Democrats like Spitzer and company get into office.

"Spitzer blamed the numbers on a "misunderstanding of the facts."
"It's what happens when you govern and make tough decisions and you do things that you believe are right and don't govern based on polls, which is never what I've done."

Or you payback the certain elements in the pro illegal immigrant movement right Governor Spitzer? I mean how else can you justify giving people who have broken the law more privileges. Spitzer seems to forget the Grassley axiom:

"WHEN YOU REWARD ILLEGALITY, YOU GET MORE OF IT!"

Spitzer says he does not believe in polls (hmmm, just like George Bush) how about constituents who contact him directly . Here are his contact numbers and email:

Tel: 518-474-8390
Mail: The Governor
Eliot Spitzer
State Capitol
Albany, NY 12224

Share your thoughts with him. Since he does not believe in polls. He needs to hear from all of us. What's next? I think this fellow speaks for many of us:

Can you hear me now?

"Verizon Communications, the nation's second-largest telecom company, told congressional investigators that it has provided customers' telephone records to federal authorities in emergency cases without court orders hundreds of times since 2005."-Washington Post

It seems it might be a good idea to send the CEO of Verizon ands other phone companies a copy of the Constitution and remind them what country they are in. Because they seem to feel that they are not obliged to obey it:

"Public officials, not private businessmen, must ultimately be responsible for whether the legal judgments underlying authorized surveillance activities turn out to be right or wrong -- legally or politically," wrote Wayne Watts, AT&T's senior executive vice president and general counsel. "Telecommunications carriers have a part to play in guarding against official abuses, but it is necessarily a modest one."

Since the phone companies seem to be so accommodating of the Federal Government perhaps they won't mind if the government comes and takes over their operations altogether. It's all about national security right?

Blog Action day. Shine on brightly!

Today some 15,000 blogs including BCP will participate in Blog Action Day. The blogs will be focusing on some type of enviornmental action. I have chosen to focus on my ongoing process to make things more efficient in my daily life and reducing my carbon foot print at the same time. Blog action Day give me a perfect opportunity to show my latest project. Modifying a classic the Tensor desk lamp located at the BCP Washington bureau news desk. Shown below. The lamps original 14 watt incandescent bulb blew out recently. Rather than replace it with another bulb of the same type. I decide to improve the efficiency of the lamp by changing it to an LED light. But, first a little historical tribute to it's inventor Jay Monroe.

"Jay Monroe, an engineer whose wife’s discontent over the strong light he needed for bedtime reading provoked him to invent a high-intensity, low-voltage mini lamp whose use spread to desks, jewelers’ worktables, limousines and far beyond, died on June 12 at his home in Sands Point, N.Y. He was 80.
His wife, Barbara, said he shot himself after he and his doctor had discussed the possibility that he had cancer.
Mr. Monroe created the Tensor lamp, then manufactured and sold it. The small, skinny lamp focused a narrow cone of high-intensity white light, making shapes, colors and objects appear sharper to the eye. Its first users were professionals like doctors and dentists, then older people and others with weak vision. It soon became an American staple, a lamp that students took to college, couples installed on each side of the bed and stamp collectors adored."
-New York Times

The Tensor light even showed up as part of the excuse for the 18 minute gap in the Watergate tapes.

"Most notoriously, in 1973, White House officials attributed the deletion of part of a critical 18-minute tape recording during the Watergate scandal on a combination of hums from the electric typewriter and the Tensor lamp of Rose Mary Woods, President Richard M. Nixon’s secretary. Mr. Monroe, whose engineering sophistication extended to complicated weapons systems, doubted that claim, his wife said."

Well Monroe's innovative Tensor light shines on at the BCP desk. Thanks to my fitting of an LED array as a replacement bulb it does so more efficiently than at any time in it's life. It now uses less than 1 watt instead of the previous 14 watts with an incandescent bulb.

More BCP energy saving projects are coming. Keep checking into BCP for the latest energy improvements.

Al Gore can kiss my....

I'm still scratching my head after hearing the announcement that Al Gore has won a Nobel Peace Prize for his Power Point presentation about global warming. I'm all for the environment and for what each of us can to protect and preserve it. But, does Gore deserve a Noble Peace Prize? I think not. What's that smell? Hmmm smells like hypocrisy.
While the left goes crazy over the new environmental rock star status of Gore following the Oscars and now the Nobel Peace Prize. The right as expected is on the attack. I have to agree with them on this one. They are quite rightly (no pun intended) exposing the hypocrisy of political elites like Gore. Though he is looked upon as a champion of the environment his house and lifestyle raises a lot of questions. His 10,000 square foot naturally gas heated home uses 20 times the natural gas and 12 times the electrcity of the average American home. While his press people try and spin that the home is also used for Al and Tipper Gore's office. Uh huh.
As the Gore's paid spinster pushed it:

Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said: “Sometimes when people don’t like the message, in this case that global warming is real, it’s convenient to attack the messenger.”

No Krieder it's not that people don't like the message. It's that people don't like the hypocrisy!

The left is trying to circle the wagons on this false face of Gore including left leaning media henchmen like Keith Olbermann by saying Gores 20 room house is justified and "green" because the Gores pay an extra $423 dollars extra for energy provided from "green" sources. Oh please what B.S. They conveniently ignore that since the Gore's are operating a business from their home this of course becomes tax deductible. Unlike many of us middle class homeowners and others struggling to pay our bills who pay full freight for our energy use.
An even more disturbing revelation for me. Is that when you compare the homes of George W. Bush and Al Gore. Bush's home looks a lot greener than Gore's.
While the left continues to ignore the hypocrisy of Al Gore and his energy use. They lambasted the right for exposing it. But, I think the right have done the public a service. No Al Gore is not a victim. I think the Nobel Prize should have been awarded to someone who REALLY walks the walk not just gives the talk on energy conservation. Yes the real victim and the guy who should have gotten the Nobel Peace Prize is ED BEGLEY Jr. A real hero of the earth. As for Al Gore he can kiss my carbon footprint!

If Michael Moore had any balls....

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore made a name for himself speaking truth to corporate power and standing up for the middle class worker in places like Flint Michigan through his films like Roger and Me. But, he has yet to tackle another area of corporate corruption and exploitation. Namely the use of illegal immigrant workers in the U.S.
Thomas Donohue president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (aka the U.S. Chamber of Corruption) once again is speaking out that the U.S. should give out an amnesty to the millions of illegal immigrants who broke into the country ignoring our laws and of course the corrupt businesses who illegally hired them.
It seems to me that if Michael Moore had any balls he would continually round up the illegals standing on street corners in communities around the country bring them to Washington D.C, to stand outside of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce building and harangue guys like Tom Donahue and make him hire them on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce payroll. So at least the middle class taxpayers in the local communities won't be subsidizing the workers for the members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Moore should also bring some middle class workers who can't make a decent living because of the low wages the illegals get and get them jobs with Mr. Donohue's organization as well.

The delusional and dangerous Eliot Spitzer.

New York State's Democratic Governor Eliot Spitzer is the closest thing to Huey Long I have seen in politics in a long time. Like George Bush who also comes from an elite background. Spitzer and he both seem to have no clue as to the concerns of concerns of middle class taxpayers. Take this quote from Spitzer recently when being questioned about aids from his office abusing their power by using State Police to investigate the Republican leader Joesph Bruno. Spitzer said recently:

"Those who want to pursue frivolous and wasteful efforts, they do it at the expense of the public, at the expense of the state," Spitzer told reporters. "I am governing." -AP

Sounds like George Bush "I am the decider." quote doesn't it? I guess all the elites think alike. Perhaps that is why Eliot Spitzer like George Bush is bending over backwards for illegal immigrants. Bush allows them to cross our borders with impunity and Spitzer wants to give the illegal immigrants drivers licenses. Yes, it certainly seems the delusional and dangerous minds of the elite do think alike.

No Imus! No Peace!

You can almost smell the hypocrisy coming out of the National Association of Black Journalists as they came out against Don Imus returning to the airwaves. To them the first amendment has no meaning as they appear to attempt to silence voices that they find objectionable.

"CHICAGO Weighing in again on the Don Imus controversy, the National Association of Black Journalists Tuesday said the radio personality who outraged many with his comments about "nappy-headed ho's" should not be allowed back on the air.
NABJ called reports that Imus is in negotiations with Citadel Broadcasting and in informal talks with Fox News "unimaginable."-
Editor and Publisher

Unimaginable? What a laugh! These so called "black" journalists had better not turn on black oriented television programs like those on BET. Because they would have heart attacks when they hear how black rap artist degrade and demean black woman. No even after numerous apologies by IMUS these hypocrites still don't want his acerbic humor to be heard on the air. But, they give Tom Joyner a free pass when he and his crew make fun of whites. Yes the hypocrites at the NABJ are in good company with the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Keith Obermann, Al Roker and others who who mau maued the weaselly executives at NBC and CBS. Along with players like Eugene Robinson at the Washington Post and others. But, is there something else going on here? Perhaps Frank Rich said it best:

"Familar as I am with the warp speed of media, I was still taken aback by the velocity of Don Imus’s fall after he uttered an indefensible racist and sexist slur about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. Even in that short span, there’s been an astounding display of hypocrisy, sanctimony and self-congratulation from nearly every side of the debate, starting with Al Sharpton, who has yet to apologize for his leading role in the Tawana Brawley case, the 1980s racial melee prompted by unproven charges much like those that soiled the Duke lacrosse players."

There is another backstory for what Bill Maher calls the "manufactured outrage" against Imus and it has intriguing tie to the Hillary Clinton campaign and the liberal "watchdog" group Media Matters who pushed the story. You can read about those ties and the attempt to silence a Clinton critics like Imus here. It may just be that the NABJ and others are really worried that when IMUS gets back on the air he is going to open a big can of wup ass on them when he gets back on the air. I hope he does and I will be listening.

Oh Blackwater keep on rolling?

The trigger happy corporate mercenery guys at Blackwater security will be getting chaporones when they escort State Department officials out of the "Green" Zone in Iraq. It seems someone in the State Department thinks that it may not be in the best interests of the United States to have corporate soldiers killing civilians in foreign countries. I tend to agree.

Nukes in the news again.

Yet another article talking about the comback for the nuclear power industry in today's Washington Post. The industry that brought you the most expensive way to boil water wants another chance. Just guess who they want to help pay for it? Hola sucker taxpayers! Here are some of the money quotes:

"The nuclear industry has been lobbying Congress to expand it to $50 billion or more. A Senate appropriations bill would remove the ceiling altogether. "

"For each nuclear plant seeking federal approval before the end of 2008, the act provides tax credits of up to $125 million for eight years, loan guarantees for up to 80 percent of a plant's cost, shared application costs and insurance that would cover the costs of regulatory delay.

Nuclear plants also receive other subsidies, including local tax breaks and limits on liability for catastrophic accidents. "

"Even if every plant could get loan guarantees for 80 percent of its cost, Crane said, projects would each require more than $1 billion in equity. "That's a lot of money at risk,"

Risk you say? Have anyone who is even thinking about a nuclear power comeback read the THE MEMO?

How do you sleep?

The Washington Post has an interesting article about many of the staff in the White house who have left recently. Unlike the neocons like Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz who slithered away after they saw the mess they created in Iraq was not going to be something they would want to list on a resume. These true believers stayed way too long and some seem to have enough conscience to actually have some regrets. Here are some of the money quotes:

"But mistakes were made and there's a cost to it."

Then there is Meghan O'Sullivan a former top advisor at the White House on Iraq

"Too soon, evidently, for the dreams to end. "In fact, I was dreaming about Iraq last night," she said. "And I woke up and thought, 'When do you think this will stop?' "

Perhaps Joe Kliens advice to a White House staffer writing op-ed pieces to justify the continuing the Iraq war might good therapy:

"Stop writing this swill and think about penance. Take some time to clear your head, a lot of time, and pay for your sins by emptying bedpans at Walter Reed."

U.S. Chamber of Corruption

A U.S. government plan to crack down employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants was delayed again on Monday as a federal judge said he needed more time to issue a ruling.
The Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security were to send joint letters in September warning businesses they'll face penalties if they keep workers whose Social Security numbers don't match their names
.-Washington Post

So even when the Government tries to work and enforce the law it is sometimes stopped. Who might be doing this? Let's see:

"Lawyers for the plaintiffs, which include the AFL-CIO, the American Civil Liberties Union, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and numerous other business and labor groups, claim the rule would put a heavy burden on employers."

The first two organizations the "A" in their title use to stand for "American" though it would be more appropriate that they change it to Alien. Because they are not helping the American workers when they file lawsuits against the government enforcing it's laws against illegal immigration. Then there is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who are also doing their best to make sure that the Federal Government does not enforce our laws. They should also change their name. Perhaps to the "U.S. Chamber of Corruption" Because they too seem to want to encourage it here in the United States by blocking enforcement of U.S. laws.

Spitzer is suing us not the U.S.

In a posting at The Huffington Post and Daily Kos our megalomaniac Governor Eliott Spitzer here in New York State is at it again. He is suing the Bush Administration because he wants to expand health insurance coverage to all children New York State. But, by suing the Federal Government Spitzer forgets he is suing us taxpayers too! Last time I checked the Federal Government and New York State were both taxing me. Here are some of the money quotes from Idiot Spitzer:

"In New York, we want to expand coverage to every uninsured child in our state."

Does that include the children of the illegals too Eliott? Probably because as he has already pledged to pay for the medical expenses of illegal immigrants. Who have no problem sending tens of billions of dollars back to their home countries. But, Spitzer wants us New York taxpayers to cover their medical expenses. File that in the Hola suckers file.

"We all know the statistics. There are 400,000 uninsured children in New York. There are 8 million uninsured children in the United States.
These staggering figures are intolerable. On both a moral and practical level, we cannot allow this to stand. The president, however, continues to say the status quo is acceptable."

What bullshit! Children have more and better access to health care than many of us working taxpayers who are footing the bill. When I was growing up every school I was in had a medical office. Every once in a while we would be marched in there for some type of examination. So when Spitzer and others keep demanding that taxpayers spend more money for children's medical care they ignore the system already in place in our school systems.

It is imperative that we all come together to reverse the Bush administration's attempt to override the will of Congress, the will of the states, and the needs of our children.

If Spitzer and others who all to eager to spend our tax dollars on some unnecessary medical boondoggle really want to help save children they would keep them out of cars:

"The most common cause of death in children is accidents. Among accidents causing deaths the most frequent are traffic related.
The importance of protecting children from traffic related hazards is huge, provided that more children loose their life or have permanent disabilities because of them, than from any other cause."- Progressive Insurance

When it comes to medical coverage it is the working taxpayers who need the access to medical coverage not the children. Spitzer needs to rethink who he is hurting when he brings out these frivolous lawsuits. He needs to be more concerned with us State taxpayers and not illegal immigrants or children who already have access to medical services already.

Forget Osama here is something to worry about.

Looking for a nice peaceful get away to the lake? Think again.

"A killer amoeba living in lakes enters the body through the nose and attacks the brain where it feeds until you die."

Here's the good news:
Even though encounters with the microscopic bug are extraordinarily rare,

and the bad news:

it's killed six boys and young men this year. The spike in cases has health officials concerned, and they are predicting more cases in the future.
According to the CDC, the amoeba called Naegleria fowleri killed 23 people in the United States, from 1995 to 2004. This year health officials noticed a spike with six cases — three in Florida, two in Texas and one in Arizona. The CDC knows of only several hundred cases worldwide since its discovery in Australia in the 1960s.

Hmmm... A brain eating Amoeba? I wonder if they have checked the ponds around the Bush's ranch in Crawford Texas.

Greening our schools with green from our wallets?

I spend much as much of my time as I can during the summer on a sailboat in the waters around Long Island. I am very much involved and aware of the natural surroundings and live with a small footprint and green with my solar panels, no air conditioning etc...but I am still able to enjoy a cold beer. When I am forced back to land I continue to keep my lifestyle the same. The solar panels that were on the boat are taken down and used to drive fans that pump solar heated air around the house. Helping my personal energy policy know as SST (starving the Saudis and Texans) it is working pretty good and every year I improve on my efficiency.
While I do practice energy efficiency in my daily life as much as possible. I am a little suspect of the recent buzz about "greening our schools". I am suspect about organizations that have as an action plan "Form a committee". Pretty soon all kinds of organizations and businesses are piling on spending money for the sake of "going green". Saving energy in homes and schools often does not require alot of money especially taxpayers money which seems is easier to spend for those in school districts than their own. As I move back on land I will be posting on this blog some of the things I do around Rancho BCP to save energy and money. They are not expensive and do help to save money, energy and the planet and you don't need to join a committee to do them.
