Locals succeed where the Federal Government fails!

When the local governments decide to enforce the laws it is amazing what happens. Especially, when it comes to finding illegal immigrants who are invading our local communities. The Washington Post has an article about how local Police departments are enforcing local laws and are catching hundreds of illegal immigrants who have broken our immigration laws too. They have been successful where the Federal Government has failed and continues to fail in rounding up the illegals coming into our communities.

Here is the money quote from the article:

"Mecklenburg County Sheriff Jim Pendergraph says there should be little sympathy for illegal immigrants caught by his program: They have already broken the law once by being here illegally, and then been arrested on suspicion of another crime.
"When any of them cross that border without proper documentation, they've violated the law -- however insignificant it may seem to some people," he said. "I've heard sad stories about folks wanting to come up here and have a better life and earn money for their family. I've arrested bank robbers who've had the same excuse."
"

That's the proper attitude we need from our law enforcement officials but, more importantly it should also be the attitude of our Federal officials in Washington.

Documented Dollars

Fifty Four BILLION dollars a year! That's how much "documented" dollars are transferred to Mexico and South America by individuals in this country using the money transfer companies.

Tickle me stupid!

Once again I spent few days on my sailboat away from land and most media sources and internet devices. In my daily check in with news just to make sure we have not had another terrorist attack I heard several times a story on WCBS Newsradio about a new "hot" toy for Christmas. The new Tickle Me Elmo doll based on the Sesame Street character. The story almost made me throw the radio overboard. Stories of stupid parents fighting over Tickle Me Elmo dolls in the stores is not news. The stupidity of these people is.

How about closely watching our street corners Mr. Chertoff!

The Washington Post has a story with the title: U.S. to Closely Watch Boeing's Border Plan

Here's the amusing quote from the article:

"In announcing that Boeing had won the Secure Border Initiative Network (SBInet) contract, Chertoff emphasized that his department would call the shots and keep close watch on the company's progress."

If only the Department of Homeland Security would keep a close eye on the streets of towns across the U.S. where illegal immigrants flauntingly stand around looking for work after breaking our immigration laws. Or how about arresting the elite idiots like Mayor Mike Bloomberg of New York who openly announce that New York is a "sanctuary city" for illegals in clear violation of U.S. laws. But, he of course accepts Federal dollars to help pay for the services they use.

But, the money quote of the article comes from T. J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, which represents 11,000 agents who said:

"Surveillance technology can be useful if you have enough people on the ground to respond to it," he said. "But if you don't, you just have to file it away because you're too busy with the first 50 people that the cameras caught. It's not the solution to the illegal immigration problem. The solution is denying access to jobs so people don't come across in the first place."

Now there's a guy who truly understands what the problem is and the hundreds of millions that Homeland Security is throwing at Boeing will not fix that problem.

Gonzales & Bush want your liberty!

There was a story concerning Attorney General & George Bush's legal waterboy Alberto R(aza) Gonzales testimony about the need for a Federal Law to force Internet providers keep their customers internet surfing records. He asserted that Congress should require Internet providers because prosecutors needed them to fight "child pornography".

YEAH RIGHT! It is just a blatant attempt to undermine the liberty of the American people and taking away more of their privacy rights and giving more powers to Federal government and an administration that has already abused much of it's power. Congress should tell Gonzales and Bush to take a long walk off a short pier.

"This is a problem that requires federal legislation," Gonzales told the Senate Banking Committee. "We need information. Information helps us makes cases."

This is laughable especially from an administration that even refuses to tell the American people who was at a White House meeting were U.S. energy policy was formulated. Hey Alberto! You want information? Here's some information for you! There are hundreds of illegal immigrants hanging out on street corners in towns like Farmingville, Long Island who are in this country illegally. How about you go get them first before you come for the American peoples liberty and internet records!

Who will apologize for this!

"Canadian intelligence officials passed false warnings and bad information to American agents about a Muslim Canadian citizen, after which U.S. authorities secretly whisked him to Syria, where he was tortured, a judicial report found Monday."- Washington Post

The money quote however comes from Paul Cavalluzzo:
"The best one can say is that it was sheer incompetence. They did not appreciate the fact that the branding of someone as a 'target' or 'suspect' or 'Islamic extremist' to Americans in 2002 could lead to disastrous consequences."

Unfortunately, he was not talking about the Bush Administration only the Canadian officials who managed to put this innocent fellow on the on the CIA flight to meet his torturers.

Bloomberg for President 2008? How about Bloomberg in jail!

New Yorks billionare elitist mayor Mike Bloomberg seems to be testing the waters for an independent presidential bid in 2008. The problem for Bloomberg is if he won he would have to take an oath to preserve, protect and defend the United States. But, since he is already breaking U.S. law with his "sanctuary policy" for illegal immigrants who come to New York. The idea of President Bloomberg would be a disgrace since he has already shown such disregard for U.S. laws already.

Another nail in the coffin of America's middle class.

I have spent the past several days on a sailboat anchored in a cove on the North Shore of Long Island. It was peaceful and quiet and I spent more time listening to weather forecasts than news. Still a few things caught my attention on the newscasts I did hear. One was the Ford Motor Company announcement of offering buyouts for their entire blue collar workforce. It would certainly be another nail in the coffin for the mid west middle class workforce. Why is Ford cutting loose their longtime employees? The answer is because the Bush administration is making it easy for them to do so. There was supposed to be a scheduled meeting with big three U.S. automakers with the President this month but, was cancelled until after the November election. You know that won't be good for the consumer just like the secret energy meetings headed by Dick Cheney.
So how is this going to play out? Here's is my take.
1) Ford and the other big automakers get rid of their middle class workers.
2) Bush and the corporations jump on Republican Indiana congressman Mike Pence "compromise immigration" reform plan.
3) The automakers get a new cheap workforce using the Pence "Ellis Island Centers" funded by the corporations in unlimited numbers and the middle class taxpayers subsidize it all.

Dan Stein shows how this plan was in the works as early as last July:
"The Indiana congressman wants to privatize U.S. immigration policy, permitting big business to import unlimited cheap labor at the expense of U.S. workers and taxpayers. By doing so, we would reward the same special interests that have helped create the huge mess in which we now find ourselves."

Thanks to the buyouts and the Bush administrations immigration policy it sure looks like we will be saying goodbye to the Midwest middle class in the very near future. The workers will do ok with their buyouts but, their children won't have a good future finding a decent job.

September 11th 2006: A beautiful night...

I took a train from Washington D.C. to New York last night as I often do. It being September 11th and five years after the World Trade Center attacks I had one more reminder as the train headed to New York. After five years of traveling on Amtrak between Washington and New York I had gotten use to not seeing the World Trade Towers looming in lower Manhattan. But, last night they once again lit the powerful lights pointing straight up into the sky from where the two towers once stood. I have seen these lights before but, last night there was a cloud over the World Trade Center site. So instead of the lights fading off into the night sky they hit the cloud and illuminated it with a beautiful white glow. As the train traveled through the New Jersey meadowland it was quite majestic. I was thinking that I hope that the families who lost love ones in the towers where able to see the site because it might have given them some peace. It looked to me like heaven was being illuminated if only for one night and their loved ones might be looking down from the cloud.

September 11th 2001: A beautiful morning...

Of course I remember that day. I was below deck on a 30 foot sailboat docked on the Hudson River on the west side of Manhattan Island. It was a beautiful morning clear blue sky, no humidity and a fresh breeze out of the northwest. I remember thinking how that breeze would be great for the sail I had planned that morning heading east on Long Island Sound. I was stowing a few last minute items down below when I heard the first plane fly overhead. Thinking to myself that it that sounded pretty low. Then it hit the North Tower. I heard a bang and the boat shuddered almost like a small tremor. Poking my head up out of the cabin I saw a mushroom cloud of smoke drifting up the north side of the first tower.
I never did take that planned sail trip after that. The harbor was closed down nothing was allowed to move in or out. I came out of my retirement and spent the next month helping to restore the microwave communication systems that were lost when the World Trade towers collapsed. I saw both towers come down from a small dingy that I have onboard that I had rowed out into the Hudson River to get a better view of what was going on downstream. . I remember watching the towers come down. I particularly remember the North Tower how it came down like a candle burning it's way to the base. The cloud that bellowed up from around the towers was mesmerizing. Beautiful and frightening at the same time from my vantage point two miles up river. It truly was what our military leaders would refer to as "shock and awe"! After the towers came down I remember floating in the dingy on the river for a long time trying to make sense of it all and feeling all alone in the river.

It's no longer MILLER TIME!

In a true case of "Beer Can Politics" the folks at the Miller Brewing company are doing bed spins in trying to explain their giving $30,000 to organizers and planners of the marches this past weekend in support of illegal immigrants in the United States. Michelle Maliken has the full story:

"The Chicago Tribune reported that Miller had paid more than $30,000 for "a planning convention, materials and newspaper ads" connected to this weekend's "Immigrant Workers Justice Walk." Not so, Miller spokesman Peter J. Marino said.
"The money supported a recent convention on immigration issues in Chicago, which provided attendees with information on how to become legally naturalized citizens of the U.S.," he said.

Yes, it all depends on what the meaning of "finance" is. See, they didn't "finance" the march. They just helped pay for the planners to plan it, advertise it, and publicize it. And, oh yeah, they handed out information on how to get citizenship."

Mathew Romero, Romero said he wasn't worried that some opponents of illegal immigration would be upset at the company's support of "the free movement of people, labor, goods and services."

What Romero and Miller are saying that they support the breaking of U.S. immigration laws and their donation of $30,000 to groups who advocate for illegal immigrants is ok for them. In effect they support those who break our immigration laws. Americans should be outraged at the irresponsibility of this corporation and you can let them know at the following email addresses:

https://www.millertalk.com/emailmanager/millerbrewing/contact.aspx
media.relations@sabmiller.com
gary.leibowitz@sabmiller.com

You can also sign a boycott petition here.

And here is a list of Miller products you should not buy if you are outraged by this act of corporate irresponsibility:

Miller
Sharp's non-alcohol brew
Red Dog
Icehouse
Southpaw
Leinenkugel's
Henry Weinhard's
Hamm's
Olde English
Magnum Malt Liquor
Mickey's Malt Liquor
Milwaukee's Best
Foster's
Peroni Nastro Azzurro
Pilsner Urquell
Sheaf Stout
Sparks
High Gravity

And while we are at it now might be good time to be reminded about some other corporations working against the enforcement of our immigration laws here in the United States!

No better place!

My car inspection is over due by a few days so I needed to take it to a garage for inspection. I know I would have to leave it and walk home. But, then I was thinking about where else could I wait and not have to walk all the way back home and then walk back to the garage pick up the car in the anticipated rain expected this afternoon. The answer for me is my local Library. My library (The Middle Country Public Library) is one of the largest on Long Island. Though I have not spent much time there as I travel back and forth to Washington D.C. or am often out sailing on Long Island Sound. The Library is one of the few places where I feel I get my money's worth for the tax dollars I spend. Whether it is researching for a historical book I've been working on or just browsing for something to read or even blogging. The dollars I save by having it's resources so nearby and available are the reason why I never vote against the library budget. Now the school budget is another matter!

If at first you don't succeed...

If at first you don't succeed try and try again. Obviously, this drug dealing illegal immigrant believes this. Perhaps Homeland Security could learn a
thing or two about protecting our borders too. Seven times this guy was
deported and he still got back in time after time. He's the poster boy for
for how bad our border security really is.

Funny how things disappear when the White House gets involved!

Funny how things seem to disappear in Bushworld. People forget one of the first things George Bush did was void the presidential papers act that would have allowed the papers of a President to become public after twenty years. Well things get curisior and curisior as this dedacted National Archives report on the missing files of Supreme Court Justice John Roberts (when he worked in the Reagan Administration) AFTER Bush's White House lawyers where allowed access to the files.
