SPEAKING ABOUT EARTH DAY

Gaylord Nelson the Democratic Senator from Wisconsin was one of the principal founders of Earth Day back in 1970.  He was not only concerned about the environment he was also aware of the impact of over population and immigration and how it affects a countries environment too. Unfortunately most of the environmental movement seems to ignore the issue. Nelson did not here is the money quote:

"The bigger the population gets, the more serious the problems become…. We have to address the population issue. The United Nations, with the U.S. supporting it, took the position in Cairo in 1994 that every country was responsible for stabilizing its own population. It can be done. But in this country, it's phony to say "I'm for the environment but not for limiting immigration."- Gaylord Nelson
