TIME TO DUCK THE A&E CABLE CHANNEL

I have never watched Duck Dynasty and probably never will but, I am still outrage at the suspension of one people of the popular reality show for expressing his views on homosexuality in a publication outside of the cable channel. Seems to me A&E should change their logo to A&C where the C stands for censorship. Like I said I would probably never watch the Duck Dynasty program. Actually I can't because over two years ago I gave up my Cablevision cable and have never regretted the decision and neither has my wallet. I miss nothing and by spending my time in new media I also keep up on the outrages like the politically correct BOZO thinking of the A&E censors. John Nolte has an interesting question about this in his latest blog:

"Can A&E afford to alienate all eleven million "Duck Dynasty" viewers by punishing a Christian for expressing Christianity?"

He also makes a good point about how if you want to stop this kind of censorship on cable there is something you must do:

"If you want to really hurt A&E, you are forced to go to the extreme of canceling the entire cable package that comes with A&E, and that could mean losing channels you do like and want to support. It might even mean cutting the cord entirely and having no cable television. And if you do cancel your cable, be sure to tell them why, because a lot of people are cutting the cord these days.
Things aren't as bad as they used to be. There are now alternatives to cable like Netflix Streaming, Amazon prime, home video, etc. But not everything you might like is on there."

Having personally cut out cable over two years ago I can honestly say I don't miss it and I find more interesting things on the Internet in places like You Tube and other new media that are better uses of my time. If you still miss some of the shows they will still be available on other media at some point. It won't be the end of the world if you drop cable but, will open up a whole new one thanks to the Internet.

It's seems President Obama has a problem with telling the truth. Like his remarks about people being able to keep the insurance plans with Obamacare.  Maybe because most of the American media don't fact check what he says it makes Obama he can get away with it. He's lying! There is no provision for illegals to have to pay their back taxes! But, of course we American citizens do not get the same deal!

In a softball interview with Chuck Todd on the liberal state run network NBC (No Barack Criticism) President Obama said he was sorry that people lost their healthcare coverage because he lied that they could keep it. Yeah right!

ANOTHER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FAILURE ON IMMIGRATION

Those pushing for "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" have a long way to go to convince the American people that our Federal Government can do the job required. Here is the latest Federal Government failure:

The Homeland Security Department has lost track of more than 1 million people who it knows arrived in the U.S. but who it cannot prove left the country, according to an audit Tuesday that also found the department probably won’t meet its own goals for deploying an entry-exit system.

The findings were revealed as Congress debates an immigration bill, and the Government Accountability Office’s report could throw up another hurdle because lawmakers in the House and Senate have said that any final deal must include a workable system to track entries and exits and cut down on so-called visa overstays.

The Senate’s pending immigration bill includes roughly 400 exemptions, exceptions, waivers, determinations and grants of discretion.The bill’s complexity is forcing opponents and supporters to comb through its 844 pages before they can declare their conditional support or opposition to the high-stakes measure. -MORE HERE

“WAIVER.—The Secretary, in the Secretary’s sole and unreviewable discretion, may waive the application of subparagraph (A) on behalf of an alien,” says one passage on page 71 of the complex document.

The bill mentions “exempt” or “exemption” 18 times.

Except” appears 156 times in the document.

There are 94 uses of “waiver,” including a provision on page 198 that allows the secretary to invite a deported illegal immigrant to return and file for the amnesty.

“The Secretary of Homeland Security may permit an alien to remain temporarily in the United States and authorize the alien to engage in employment in the United States if the Secretary determines that the alien … has been helpful, is being helpful, or is likely to be helpful, in the investigation, prosecution of, or pursuit of civil remedies related to the claim arising from a covered violation.”

“Unreviewable” appears seven times in the bill.

On page 568, for example, the bill declares that “the Attorney General may, in the Attorney General’s sole and unreviewable discretion, appoint or provide counsel to aliens in immigration proceedings conducted under section 240 of this Act.”

COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM JOKE #3: Border Security triggers

Conn Carrol has a loophole in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform legislation that you can drive a truck full of illegal immigrants through. Make that a convoy.

"Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., produced a press release today claiming that his new “Border Security, Economic Opportunity & Immigration Modernization Act” creates “six security trigger steps that must be met before any currently illegal immigrant is given access to a green card.” And it is true. His bill does create six such triggers. But it also creates a huge loophole that makes them entirely irrelevant. " MORE HERE

"In other words, if the Chamber of Commerce sues to block creation of the E-Verify program, and they either win, or that suit is still pending after ten years, then the secretary of homeland security is empowered to grant permanent legal residence to all legalized immigrants regardless of the actual security situation on the border.

Or maybe environmentalists will sue to block construction of the border fence. Or maybe the ACLU will sue to block the visa-exit system. There are a thousand ways liberal groups could sue the federal government to slow border enforcement. So all the pro illegal immigrant groups like the ACLU and business groups have to do is keep the lawsuits coming for ten years and then the illegals are home free. Border security or no border security. So much for Rubio's border security "triggers" promise.

Jim Demint on the Heritage Foundation lays out exactly what will happen if the Gang of Eight's immigration reform passes as is:


The Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector has pioneered research into the cost to the federal government over time of granting amnesty. Rector was the driving force behind welfare reform in the 1990s. Five years ago, Rector found that amnesty would likely cost taxpayers some $2.5 trillion. Over the last six months he has been putting the finishing touches on an updated study that calculates an even higher price tag.

Some may say we can solve this fiscal problem by granting amnesty without any government benefits. We all know that will never happen. As soon as any of the nearly 11 million unauthorized immigrants are given legal status, the political fight will turn to speeding their transition to citizenship and promises of a full array of federal benefits.

Delaying eligibility for federal benefits to newly legalized immigrants merely puts off the day of reckoning. The truly enormous costs come when unauthorized immigrants start collecting retirement benefits. Social Security, Medicare, food stamps and other entitlement programs already impose huge, unfunded liabilities on taxpayers; adding more recipients only makes the fiscal hole we find ourselves in much deeper.- USA Today

DeMints right! The same people pushing for amnesty for the current crop of illegal immigrants are not going to go away but, will then be pushing for government benefits for the the newly "legalized" illegals.

COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM: Joke #1 Fines and Back Taxes

"Allow undocumented immigrants who have lived in the United States continually since before December 31, 2011 to apply for “Registered Provisional Immigrant Status” if they pay back taxes and $500 in fines, and if they have not been convicted of a felony or 3 or more misdemeanors or voted illegally. Individuals with this status can work for any employer and travel outside the country but are not eligible to receive means-tested federal public benefits."- NBC

First on taxes there were provisions in the 2007 immigration bill that illegal immigrants had to pay back taxes. But, that was later dropped because it was "too complicated to enforce" does anyone believe that anything has changed since then? Certainly, Senator Chuck Schumer one of the gang of eight pushing this plan has killed plans to make illegals play by the same rules as U.S. taxpayers  as far back as the 1986 immigration plan.

Second the illegals only have to pay a a $500 fine. What a joke! Some of these illegals paid thousands of dollars to cross the U.S. borders illegally. Charging just a $500 fine for the illegals  to be allowed to keep working legally in the U.S. is another joke!

HOW CHUCK SCHUMER FAILED U.S. TAXPAYERS ON IMMIGRATION REFORM BEFORE

As the April 15th deadline for U.S. taxpayers approaches it's good to remember how politicians like New York Senator Charles Schumer FAILED in previous immigration reforms to make sure that those in this country illegally actually paid their taxes.  Here is exhibit A:

Schumer wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, urging the government "immediately" to issue a regulation declaring that illegal aliens applying for permanent residence pursuant to IRCA were exempt from section 6039E. CONNECTICUT MUZZLES RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS BUT, STILL ALLOWS THE ACLU TO ENABLE MORE MASSACRES

While the misguided Connecticut lawmakers enact knee jerk legislation that impacts responsible gun owners they ignore the reason why Adam Lanza was able to commit the Sandy Hook School Massacre:

A troubling revelation has broken regarding a mental health bill recently defeated in Connecticut during this calendar year. Had it passed, that bill could have possibly taken Adam Lanza off the streets so he would not have been free to commit his heinous act on December 14.

In February 2012, Connecticut Senate Bill 452 (SB452) was put forward to remedy the fact that Connecticut was one of less than ten states in the U.S. to lack an "assisted outpatient treatment" (AOT) law. 

"Why didn't the legislation pass? Because the ACLU and other "civil liberties" groups and individuals cried foul. The ACLU in particular said 452 would "infringe on patients' privacy rights by expanding [the circle of] who can medicate individuals without their consent." They also said it infringed on patient rights by reducing the number of doctors' opinions necessary to commit someone to institutionalization.  "  -BIG GOVERNMENT

It's now known Lanza had mental health issues so much so that school officials at the Sandy Hook school notified security to keep an eye on him while he was a student at the school. But,  groups like the ACLU don't want any scrutiny of people like Lanza once they are out in the world. Such a liberal ideology may have conspired to allow Lanza the "freedom" to orchestrate the massacre that occurred at the Sandy Hook school. The "feel good" legislation adopted by the Connecticut legislature will not stop another massacre from occuring.

It's clear that the "appallingly pathetic" Associated Press "news" gathering organization has sunk to a new low on what is considered the truth in journalism.  I could not believe that one of the major gang of eight Senators working behind closed doors on the so called "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" namely New York's Senator Chuck Schumer had never been down to inspect the U.S. border before last week. Yet, he has been pushing the Comprehensive Immigration Reform negotiations behind closed doors.    Even while he was down there with fellow Senator John McCain an illegal crossed over the fence within sight of their entourage. Yet, he still is pushing ahead blindly with the notion that giving illegal immigrants amnesty and work rights that will stop more illegals from entering the country.  He is beyond clueless!

Now comes word that Marco Rubio has bought in a Florida immigration lawyer to work on this bogus "Comprehensive Immigration Reform"  worked on in secret by him and a gang of seven other Senators behind closed doors. The Los Angeles Times ran a Thursday editorial by Middlebury College Professor Bill McKibben arguing that allowing millions of illegal immigrants into America will reduce global warming:

 “I feel it's urgent that we get real immigration reform, allowing millions to step out of the shadows and on to a broad path toward citizenship,” wrote McKibben. “It will help, not hurt, our environmental efforts, and potentially in deep and powerful ways.”

McKibben says that while the average American has a larger carbon footprint than a person living in the developing world, bringing more immigrants to America would likely reduce their tendency to have higher birthrates, thereby creating less carbon-producing people. - MORE HERE
