Albert Hoffmann father of LSD dead at 102

"Albert Hofmann, 102, a Swiss chemist and accidental father of LSD who came to view the much-vilified and abused hallucinogen he discovered in 1938 as his "problem child," died April 29 at his home in Burg, a village near Basel, Switzerland, after a heart attack."- Washington Post

What I found interesting while reading the obituary of Hoffmann in the Washington Post was that it makes absolutely no mention of it's use by the CIA in it's mind control experiments during the cold war. So important did the CIA believe that LSD would be an important drug in getting it's cold war prisoner's to talk that the agency once attempted to buy all the stockpile that Sandoz Labs had so that it could not be sold to anyone else. The CIA then cut a check to cover the purchase of 25,000 lbs of LSD. The trouble was Sandoz only had about 25 pounds of the stuff. Somebody in the CIA had misread the quantity Sandoz had in stock. Even back then the CIA was getting the intelligence wrong. Of course LSD like many of the other "truth serums" turned out to be pretty much useless in getting quality information in interrogations.

Bank of America profits down! Hola suckers!

"NEW YORK, April 21 -- Bank of America, which has a sprawling business in personal and commercial loans, reported a 77 percent decline in profit Monday, the latest indication of how financial troubles that started with sub prime mortgages have spread across the credit markets-Washington Post

I guess the great financial geniuses at The Bank of America who came up with the plan to give credit cards and sub prime mortgage loans to illegal immigrants may not have had such a great business idea after all. Perhaps BOA should change their name to Bank of Idiots. What's next? Forget turning to CNBC and the Wall Street Journal to find out. If you would have been listening to Bob you would have seen this train wreck coming a long time ago.

Two woman making a difference

While the Pope gives his blessing to illegals to keep breaking our laws. The Washington Post has a story about Chris Pannell and Allison Kipp two hard working American woman who are making a difference in their community that has be over run by illegal immigration. Here are some of the money quotes:

"When Chris Pannell walks down the Prince William County street she has called home for all of her 39 years, she's dismayed by what she sees -- vacant houses -- and delighted by what she says she doesn't see -- illegal immigrants. "

"Next door was a foreclosed house that Pannell said was filled for a decade with Hispanic men who frequently spent afternoons drinking on the front stoop and in the beds of pickups. She said she witnessed several brawls and saw men urinate in the front yard at least 10 times over the years. The inhabitants disappeared more than three months ago, she said, "and that's a good thing."

"It really gave me faith in the American way, that we the American people can get out here, and our voices will prevail," said Pannell, who lives with her husband and three children in the house across the street from her childhood home, where her mother still lives. "I've never felt so passionate about anything. It's your neighborhood. It's your community."

Amen to that!

Pope urges continued invasion of U.S.

Ignored by the mainstream liberal media is the Pope's call for continued illegal immigration into the United States. The Pope bought his Papal B.S. shovel with him as he like many pro illegal immigrant advocates refuse to make the distinction between legal immigration and illegal immigrants. While many on Capitol Hill like Nancy Pelosi and others were kissing the Popes hand at least one pol Tom Tancredo was speaking out and standing up for the United States. here are some of the money quotes:

"Pope Benedict XVI said the United States must do “everything possible to fight … all forms of violence so that immigrants may lead dignified lives.”

To which Tom Tancredo responds: “I would like to know what part of our lax immigration policy is considered violent,” “I fail to see how accepting more refugees than any other nation –and providing free health care, education,
housing and social service benefits to millions of illegal aliens is in any way ‘violent’ or ‘degrading.’”

“I want to encourage you and your communities to continue to welcome the immigrants who join your ranks today, to share their joys and hopes, to support them in their sorrows and trials and to help them flourish in their new home.”

Wait a minute I just thought they came here to work? So nice of the Pope to invite the illegals to make them selves at home in our country. Perhaps it would be better if he invited them to live in the Vatican. Or as Tancredo said: “ it is not in his job description to engage in American politics.”

As the Catholic church here in the U.S. has declining membership among U.S. citizens Tancredo points out the real reason for the Pope's advocacy for continued illegal immigration into the United States: “I suspect the Pope’s immigration comments may have less to do with spreading the gospel than they do about recruiting new members of the church,” said Tancredo. “This isn’t preaching it is ‘faith-based’ marketing.”

Bitter hypocrisy!

It is yet to be seen whether condescending remark on "small town" America is Barrack Obama's "yeee ha" moment ala Howard Dean or just a bump in the road. But, the hypocrisy is startling. Just a few weeks after throwing his grandmother under the bus after describing her as a "typical white person" he is now embracing being raised by his single mother and his grandparents.
Meanwhile, Obama sycophant and Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson defends Obama by launching a pathetic attack on Hillary Clinton and defending why we need an elitist for for President. Here is the money quote:

"As you've guessed, I have a couple of problems with Clinton's seeming-is-being theory of campaigning for the nation's highest elective office. First, given the urgency and complexity of the problems the next president will face, who's going to think it's a good idea to elect Joe or Josephine Sixpack?"

Ummm, Phone call for Mr. Robinson! It's Harry Truman.

Recession? What Recession?

I spent a few days in New York City last week and the restaurants were packed. No sign of recession there. But as blogger Deeply Imbedded points out that is not the view from the rest of the country. That is the great disconnect with most of the rest of the country on many issues like the recession and illegal immigration. Those in Washington and New York have to look hard to see it.

Mr. Obama regrets.

The Washington Post reports that Barack Obama on Saturday expressed regret about the way he phrased a remark describing the plight of Americans who live in small towns.
Here is the money quote:

"It's not surprising that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment."

What did he mean to say? That they were just "typical white people"? To borrow a phrase from the black Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson one wonders "what lies beneath" Obama's condescending remarks. He like many in Washington are out of touch with many middle class Americans. We are not bitter. We are pissed off! We are not "anti-immigrant" we are anti-illegal immigrant. Once he gets that through his liberal ivy league educated head he might might understand that America is more than just the view of the liberal elites running the Democratic party.

Feds failing us again

When it come to enforcing our illegal immigration laws it is easy to see where the problem is. It always points back to the Federal Government. That's way pro illegal immigration groups like the ACLU and ethno centric organizations like LA RAZA always want the Federal Government to be in charge of the enforcement of illegal immigration laws. Because they do such a bad job of it.
Exhibit A from today's Washington Post:
"A highly touted partnership between the Prince William County jail and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is showing signs of strain, as crowding at the facility has hit an all-time high and federal agents are taking weeks -- not the agreed-upon 72 hours -- to pick up illegal immigrant suspects, jail officials said. "

Micropolitics: Mark Penn out of Clinton campaign

"ALBUQUERQUE, April 6 -- Mark J. Penn quit Sunday as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's chief strategist, the second shake-up in her campaign's top ranks"-Washington Post

Looks like one of the smartest guys has just left the Clinton campaign. I recommend reading Marl Penn's book MICROTRENDS. In that book he was looking at the little changes that can mean in lot in the big picture. I ran into Penn a few months ago and told him how much I liked his book. I then told him to don't forget us Lou Dobbs Democrats that we are still out here. He had a surprised look on his face when I said that. It will be interesting to see what happens to the Clinton campaign from here on.

Got kids?

Speaking of New York there is an article today's Washington Post about the new status symbol for the elites. Having three kids. Here is the money quote:

"In many major U.S. cities and their suburbs -- especially New York, where I live -- having three or more children has now come to seem like an ostentatious display of good fortune, akin to owning a pied-à-terre in Paris. The family of five has become "deluxe." Last year, novelist Molly Jong-Fast mused in the New York Observer, "Are people having four or five children just because they can? Because they feel that it shows their wealth and status? In a world where the young rich use their $13,000 Birkin bags as diaper bags, one has to wonder."

Unbelievable! Just because you can fornicate does not mean that you should have more children. As a childless (by choice) male it often seems to me that for some people it is more about their legacy aka ego than the children that is important. As for me I will keep my carbon footprint low by not buying an SUV to transport kids to soccer practice or increase the amount of diapers in landfills. The hypocrisy is the impressionable elites who have more children will "go green" in their house but, ignore the cost of what having another child does to the environment. And don't get me started on the school taxes which I too am paying to educate these status "trophy" children too

Capitol to Capitol.

I have spent the past few days in New York City the so called "Capitol of the World" and have just returned tonight to Washington D.C. the so called "Political Capitol of the World". It has been a few days of very little media and that was refreshing. I stayed at the New York Hilton where my girlfriend was attending a TESOL (Teachers of English to Students of Other Languages) conference. One observation is that the people in the conference might have started with some of the cleaning staff of the Hilton. Since my one attempt at communication regarded that the woman get a supervisor in order to understand my request. More observations of my Big Apple stay to follow.

McCain: Please allow me to introduce myself...

"As his Democratic presidential rivals squabble, Sen. John McCain has moved to transform his ragtag primary campaign into a general-election operation by boosting fundraising, establishing control over the Republican National Committee, and beginning a conversation with voters who live in states where he has not campaigned. "- Washington Post

Maybe McCain can explain why he has a Mexican national in charge of his Hispanic outreach committee. Why he supports amnesty for illegal immigrants who have broken U.S. laws by crossing our borders. When it comes to U.S. security McCain may actually be the worst candidate in the race. The trouble is most people don't know how bad he is on issues like illegal immigration. Watch this space!
