Mo money Obama & the Audacity of B.S.

"I am signing an imperfect omnibus bill because it is necessary for the ongoing functions of government," -President Obama

What B.S.! President Obama did not have to sign this "imperfect bill" Omnibus spending bill that increases costs to us taxpayers by 8% over last year budget. He could have vetoed it and Congress could have passed a continuing resolution to fund the government at the current rate. Not a bad idea since he has already spent over a trillion dollars in his first fifty days as President. Then he had the audacity to issue a signing statement something he criticised George Bush for doing. Here is the money quote from the AP:

"Two days after criticizing his predecessor for issuing guidelines on how to put legislation into
practice, President Barack Obama issued such a directive himself."

It's not change but, hypocrisy that Obama has bought to Washington.

Just wanted to say that I enjoy your site.

If you've been distracted by the collapsing Economy, you probably have not noticed...

The Obama Administration is working overtime to kill two of the most effective Federal programs aimed at fighting illegal immigration.

E-Verify - Operated by DHS, this is the program that allows employers to determine if a job applicant is authorized to work here. E-Verify is free, accurate and voluntary. The widespread use of E-Verify could quickly secure the American workplace make our economy far less attractive to illegal aliens.
This week, the Senate deleted a GOP Amendment that would have provided long term funding of E-Verify in their omnibus budget bill. E-Verify is now only funded for six months.

287g - Operated by ICE which is a part of DHS, this is the cooperation program that authorizes and trains local police to help enforce Federal immigration laws. Aimed typically at Criminal Aliens including violent offenders, drug gang members, and sexual predators, 287g cooperation agreements are effective crime fighting tools. The widespread use of 287g programs nationwide would create a seemless web of law enforcement, and would result in the eventual arrest and deportation of many hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.
Despite strong support from police with first-hand knowledge of the effectiveness of 287g cooperation programs, the new Director of DHS does not support these coordinated efforts by law enforcement.
Created by Congress in 1996, the DHS Director lacks the authority to kill 287g outright. Instead, she has ordered ICE to add new paperwork requirements for local police that will be significant burden to them. The new DHS Director has also asked that new limits and new restrictions be placed on this promising program to restrict its use in the future.

Killing these two programs can only have one result, increased levels of illegal immigration.

JMS:
This is outrageous. It seems the Obama administration is making failure an option in regards to E-Verify. Burdening local police departments with more papwork seems like it is part of the plan. Thanks for your comments.
