The deceit of David Brooks
After watching a beautiful sunrise in Montauk Point this morning I headed west and as usual when I am staying out in the east end of Long Island stopped at the Aamagansett Farm Stand to pick up the papers. What caught my eye in today's New York Times was David Brook's piece on Richard Armitage. Brooks contrasted the coverage of Armitage who reveled inadvertently the fact that Joe Wilson's wife worked for the CIA. Brooks then goes on to criticize the light treatment Armitidge received in the news media against that of White House official Karl Rove who also ackowledged the identity of Joe Wilson's wife covert identity. What Brooks completely ignores is Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff Scooter Libby's complicity in the issue. It was the result of Scooter Libby's request to the State Department to find info on administration critic Joe Wilson that caused a report to be issued which is where Armitage read about the Joe Wilson's wife's CIA ties. Unlike Rove who amended his story before the Grand Jury in several testimonies. Armitage came right out and admitted his mistake and unlike Libby who is under indictment for lying Armitage fessed up right away. Brooks ignored Libby's lies completely in his column.

Hi BCP,
Just stumbled across your blog.
You obviously can write - kudos for your pithy and interesting style.
After perusing the last 3 months of your archives, c'mon - "from the center?" Please. You are winking with your fingers crossed when you say that, aren't you?
Your post on David Brook's column - who cares about Scooter Libby? The egg is all over the face of Bush-haters on this one. They can't even bring themselves to comment on it now over at the Huffington Post, with it's over 100 anti-Bush bloggrollers. Well, actually one person did, but it's so existential that it begs credulity, not to mention its high potential as a sleep aid.
Your "takes" on Israel and Lebanon are not supported by the majority of Americans, Israelis, or, for that matter, even Lebanese.
Even your "conservative" views regarding illegal immigration aren't enough to push you back to the center. I could go on, but I'm too tired . . .
Off to view others . . .
Well thanks for dropping by. The current administration spin is that it was Armitage who started the outing they are trying to obscure Libby's (and maybe Cheney's) role in finding dirt on Wilson.
The Lebanese in love with Israel? I'm sure the Israelis will be "greated as liberators" next time they bomb the airports and invade. Yeah right! The only ones in love with everything Israel does are the pols in Washington who love the money from the American Israeli lobby. There is more critical talk of Israel's action in Lebanon in Tel Aviv than here in the states.
Thanks for dropping by and your comments.
