Stop! Hey what's that sound?

I've been on a sailboat for the past several days away from the tactile feel on a keyboard but, not completely out of touch. Listening to a WCBS Newsradio and a local NPR station on occasion. It was heartening to hear that even through the pro illegal immigrant filter that many of these mainstream media outlets seem to have that there is uprising of outrage over Governor Spitzer executive order to allow illegals in New York State to get a drivers license. Some county clerks even stating they will refuse to issue a license to anyone who is not legally allowed to be here. I think Spitzer actions has woken up even more people to the outrage of what is going on regarding illegal immigration. It is only the dictatorial elites like Spitzer who are just not listening to the common sense of this outraged citizenry. Even New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg is coming out against the policy. It sure looks like Spitzer is going to have to be smacked with the Grassly stick. The one that reads "IF YOU REWARD ILLEGALITY YOU WILL GET MORE OF IT!" I suggest he be smacked on the butt real hard with it by the outraged NY citizens because his head may be too thick to get the message.

New York Governor Spitzer still stuck on stupid!

First it was the announcement on Friday that New York would be issuing drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. Now the Dumbocratic Governor of New York Idiot Spitzer is looking to spend more New York State taxpayers money to provide medical services to illegal immigrants. Here are the money quotes:

"Federal health officials have told New York State that they will no longer help cover the cost of chemotherapy for illegal immigrants with cancer because it does not qualify under an emergency Medicaid program. But yesterday, state health officials said they would cover all the costs no matter what the federal government does."

The stupidity of the Spitzer administration continues:
"The state health commissioner, Richard F. Daines, who joined Mr. Spitzer yesterday at a news conference in Manhattan, said the state would pay the full cost of chemotherapy for illegal immigrants, estimated at $5 million to $10 million annually. "

So let me get this straight Governor Spitzer these people are not even supposed to be here but, you want New York State Taxpayers to pick up there entire medical costs after breaking our laws. The illegals are already sending billions of dollars back home to their home countries but, you want New York State taxpayers to pay for their medical bills? How about this as a solution. Take the 10 million dollars and put the illegals who require treatment back on planes to their home countries. I figure you could send about 16,000 of them back home. Let their own governments provide them the medical services they need and NOT New York State taxpayers! You would ultimately be reducing future costs to taxpayers and helping to enforce the laws of our country instead of reaching into our wallets.

The War

Lately, I've been thinking about The War. Not the war in Iraq though it crosses my mind almost daily too. It's hard to not think about it when there are articles like in today's Washington Post. I remember a few years ago when a military official said that the Pentagon did not keep count of civilian deaths in Iraq. It's seems the military is now counting the dead as a metric to see if the surge is working. Grim business indeed. But, lately I am also thinking about THE WAR the Ken Burns documentary on PBS. Mostly I think of my Aunt out in the mid west. Eighty Four years old and still sharp as a tack. She enlisted in the Navy in World War II and was station in Norfolk. She preformed inspections on planes that were repaired and sent back into duty. She tells the story of getting into a recently repaired plane during the war with her clip board to do an in flight check of the repairs on some plane. Only to have the plane crash into the bay. Luckily, she and the crew were rescued. But, I also think of her in our last conversation about a month ago when she said. You know I want to throw everyone on Capitol Hill into the Potomic River. I told her I know the feeling.

Deal or no deal?

The Washington Post reports:
"The oil deal signed between Hunt Oil and the government in Iraq's Kurdish region earlier this month has raised eyebrows, in no small part because it appears to undercut President Bush's hope that Iraq could draft national legislation to share revenue from the country's vast oil reserves. Making the deal more curious is that it was crafted by one of the administration's staunchest supporters, Ray Hunt."

or is it a deal?

"Any oil deal has no standing as far as the government of Iraq is concerned," Iraq's oil minister, Hussain al-Shahristani, told reporters earlier this month. "All these contracts have to be approved by the federal authority before they are legal. This [contract] was not presented for approval. It has no standing."

Welcome to the New Iraq.

Blackwater blowback

"Senior Iraqi officials repeatedly complained to U.S. officials about Blackwater USA's alleged involvement in the deaths of numerous Iraqis, but the Americans took little action to regulate the private security firm until 11 Iraqis were shot dead last Sunday, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials."-Washington Post

"Meet the new boss same as the old boss" As the Who song reminds us that the tone deaf Bush administration ignores the outcry against Blackwater's killing of Iraqi civilians. But, more importantly the use of private security company like Blackwater raises disturbing questions about our government. If the U.S. Government can not protect our diplomats how can we expect them to protect us. Welcome to Bushworld!

Eliot (the idiot) Spitzer

Just when you think that our elected officials might just be starting to get the message from the American voters that rewarding illegal immigrants is an unacceptable policy. Along comes New York Governor Eliot (the idiot) Spitzer who on taking out the trash Friday announced that New York State would now be granting New York State Drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. Here are some of the money quotes this Dumbocrat Spitzer:

"They no longer need to hide and pretend they are not here,'' said Spitzer. "We will not become part of what is propagated on the federal level that if we don't admit they are here then we can somehow not provide services. That is bad policy.''

This statement just shows how clueless Spitzer is. Hiding my ass! I just need drive Spitzer around my middle class community and I'll show Spitzer how much the illegal immigrants are hiding. As far as providing services who does Spitzer think is providing the money for these services? The answer is us taxpayers Governor.

At least there are some pols in New York State who can see the ramifications of Spitzer's idiotic policy:
"The change drew the scorn of some Republican lawmakers from New York. Rep. Randy Kuhl, R-N.Y., said the new policy "undermines the preventive measures that protect our country from national security threats. The September 11, 2001 hijackers had at least 35 licenses, which helped them to rent cars and open bank accounts."This policy encourages people to flood New York State and wreck havoc on our social services, schools, and hospitals,'' he added.

You can email Governor Spitzer here to let him know what you think of this dumbass policy. You know I already have.

Nuclear Power is good for something.

As is usual I picked up the POLITICO and Hill newspapers in Union Station for my trip back to Long Island from Washington. There were ads in the papers including companies like Areva promoting the "wonders" of nuclear power. I guess energy legislation is coming up in congress soon. After skimming those papers I opened up my mail and found that I was somewhat richer thanks to the nuclear power industry. Let me explain.
Back in the 1980's I was opposed to the Shoreham Nuclear Power plant here on Long Island. It really awakened my activism and involvement in politics. I did the usual things like attending rallies, wrote letters to the editors, visited my elected officials. but, I thought something was missing. That was taking my personal message to the LILCO (the utility building the nuke plant) directly. So I bought shares of stock in the company. I just did not buy one share just so I could speak at the shareholders meeting. I think people who do that get dismissed easily by the audience and the media. Lucky for me that the stock price was low and over a pretty short time I was able to buy several hundred shares. I spoke at the LILCO shareholders meeting the following year and armed with my research and statistics asked a question of the CEO about the plans for electric production when the Shoreham plant was shutdown for maintenance or an extensive outage. He could not answer it. I still remember the stunned silence from the audience of stockholders as the executive fumbled for an answer. Moving forward the Shoreham Nuclear plant never opened. LILCO became a public power utility it's gas operations were sold to KEYSPAN which was then sold recently to NATIONAL GRID. My low priced shares were finally sold to National Grid for forty two dollars a share (and had been paying dividends for several years before that to boot) When I deposit the check I feel the final cord will have been cut between me and my opposition to the Shoreham plant. But, I am still continuing to cut the cord between me and the utility companies. I keep moving forward in my own personal energy plan for Rancho de BCP aka my house. Thanks to advances in conservation and my solar additions to my house I am getting closer energy independence all the time. Meanwhile, the nuclear industry is pushing for a revival of nuclear plants. Part of me is laughing all the way to the bank. But, another part of me is ready to take them on again because unlike most other Americans and the mainstream media I HAVE READ THE MEMO!

So which is it Mr. Greenstein?

An op-ed by Robert Greenstein executive director of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in today's Washington Post goes after an interesting op-ed about the costs of immigration that appeared on Septeber 5th that I missed by Robert Samualson that starts off:
"The government last week released its annual statistical report on poverty and household income. As usual, we -- meaning the public, the media and politicians -- missed a big part of the story. It is this: The stubborn persistence of poverty, at least as measured by the government, is increasingly a problem associated with immigration. As more poor Hispanics enter the country, poverty goes up. This is not complicated, but it is widely ignored."

Just what many of us U.S. taxpayers suspected. But, Greestein attacks Samulson with all sorts of smoke about how well the Latinos are doing economically and how Samualson is wrong. But, when you look at the website Center on Budget Priority and Policy Priorities of which Greestein is executive director you find this quote:
"The current economic expansion has not reached low-income Latinos. Poverty among Latinos did not improve between 2001 (21.4 percent) and 2005 (21.8 percent), the most recent year for which Census data on income and poverty are available. And the poor are poorer: 40 percent of poor Latinos lived below half the poverty line in 2005, up from 38 percent in 2001. "
So on one hand Mr. Greestein attacks Samualson of "misreading poverty data" but, reinforces Samualson's argument on his organizations website. Like many pro illegal immigrant advocates Greenstein seems seems to want to use the facts about poverty both ways. Gotcha! Which is it Mr. Greenstein?

The DREAM Act is an amnesty nightmare.

After the defeat of the Ted Kennedy, Arlen Spector, John McCain, George Bush, Lindsey Graham, La Raza illegal immigration amnesty bill earlier this year. Washington still seems to be stuck on stupid with the proposed DREAM Act. This time it is Dumbocrat Dick Durbin leading the charge seconded by uber liberl Diane Feinstein who plan to attach it it to the Defense Authorization Bill. Kris W. Kobach has highlighted a few of the nastier features of this amnesty in disguise bill Durbin and other plan to introduce this week which of course the proponets of the bill were not telling the American taxpayer about::

"The DREAM Act (S. 774) is a nightmare. It is a mas?sive amnesty that extends to the millions of illegal aliens who entered the United States before the age of 16. The illegal alien who applies for this amnesty is immediately rewarded with "conditional" lawful per?manent resident (green card) status, which can be converted to a non-conditional green card in short order. The alien can then use his newly acquired status to seek green cards for the parents who brought him in illegally in the first place. In this way, it is also a back?door amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens who brought their children with them to the United States.

What is less well known about the DREAM Act is that it also allows illegal aliens to receive in-state tuition rates at public universities, discriminating against U.S. citizens from out of state and law-abiding foreign students. It repeals a 1996 federal law that pro?hibits any state from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens unless the state also offers in-state tuition rates to all U.S. citizens.

There is no upper age limit. Any illegal alien can walk into a U.S. Customs and Immigration Ser?vices office and declare that he is eligible. For example, a 45 year old can claim that he illegally entered the United States 30 years ago at the age of 15. There is no requirement that the alien prove that he entered the United States at the claimed time by providing particular documents. The DREAM Act's Section 4(a) merely requires him to "demonstrate" that he is eligible—which in practice could mean simply making a sworn statement to that effect. Thus, it is an invitation for just about every illegal alien to fraudulently claim the amnesty.

The alien then has six years to adjust his status from a conditional green card holder to a non-conditional one. To do so, he need only complete two years of study at an institution of higher edu?cation. If the alien has already completed two years of study, he can convert to non-conditional status immediately (and use his green card as a platform to bring in family members). As an alternative to two years of study, he can enlist in the U.S. military and spend two years there. This provision allows Senator Durbin to claim that the DREAM Act is somehow germane to a defense authorization bill.

An illegal alien who applies for the DREAM Act amnesty gets to count his years under "condi?tional" green card status toward the five years needed for citizenship. (Section 5(e)) On top of that, the illegal alien could claim "retroactive benefits" and start the clock running the day that the DREAM Act is enacted. (Section 6) In combi?nation, these two provisions put illegal aliens on a high-speed track to U.S. citizenship—moving from illegal alien to U.S. citizen in as little as five years. Lawfully present aliens, meanwhile, must follow a slower path to citizenship.

It would be absurdly easy for just about any ille?gal alien—even one who does not qualify for the amnesty—to evade the law. According to Section 4(f) of the DREAM Act, once an alien files an application—any application, no matter how ridiculous—the federal government is prohib?ited from deporting him. Moreover, with few exceptions, federal officers are prohibited from either using information from the application to deport the alien or sharing that information with another federal agency, under threat of up to $10,000 fine. Thus, an alien's admission that he has violated federal immigration law cannot be used against him—even if he never had any chance of qualifying for the DREAM Act amnesty in the first place.:
"

What can you do? Call your Senators TODAY! Tell them to Vote NO on Amendment 2237 that would attach the Dream Act Amnesty. The Senate switchboard number is (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request. You should also call the Senators local office just to make sure the message gets through.

There's something in the wind.

The elitist limo liberal Senator Ted Kennedy is at it again. First it was his leading role in trying to ram through the illegal immigrant amnesty bill through the Senate. Now he is continuing to fight offshore wind energy projects off the coast of Nantucket because as his nephew Robert Kennedy Jr put it:
"the project would be built in one our family’s favorite sailing and yachting areas.”
As U.S. troops continue to die in Iraq to make sure that we will have access to it's oil fields and alternative energy sources like wind power would decrease our dependence on this oil. It has become increasingly clear that we need to take back our country from family political elites like the Kennedy's and the Bush's because they are only going to do what is good for their own interests and not what is good for America.

Bush and Gonzales

Alberto R(aza) Gonzales President Bush's former legal water boy and failed Attorney General is set to leave the Justice Department today. After wiping his and Bush's ass with the constitution. What he left behind will leave a stench on our our country and republic for a long time and it is not a pleasent smell.

Is Saul Arellano a victim of child abuse?

There are many ways to abuse a child. It seems the pro illegal open borders advocates are practicing one of the ways by dragging around Saul Arellano as the poster boy for the illegal immigration. These open borders groups try and play a sympathy card because they know the they don't have a legal leg to stand on. Here is the latest publicity stunt by these scoundrels who use children to push there agenda:
"WASHINGTON -- An 8-year-old boy whose mother was deported to Mexico led a chanting crowd of about 150 pro-immigration activists through the halls of Congress on Wednesday. Capitol Police arrested two demonstrators for disorderly conduct.
Saul Arellano and other children carried a banner that read: "Born in the USA. Don't take our moms and dads away."

TRANSLATION: Anyone who comes into the country illegally and fornicates should have the right to get a free green card.

Meanwhile in Mexico Elvira Arellano the deported boys mother who played the crying mother role in front of the TV cameras in Chicago continues to let her son be used instead of nurturing him said this:

"He is a boy who has been suffering because the U.S. government told his mother she couldn't stay in their country anymore because she was undocumented," she said.

No, Elvira he is suffering because you committed crimes by entering the country illegally and committed identity theft and then ignored our laws after you were convicted. If your son is a victim you are the cause not the U.S. government. You and others who break our laws will get no respect until you respect our laws.

Rushing toward failure in Iraq and the U.S.

"Army Gen. David H. Petraeus told Congress yesterday that the deployment of 30,000 more troops to Iraq has made enough progress that the additional combat forces can be pulled out by next summer, but he cautioned against "rushing to failure" with a larger and speedier withdrawal."- Washington Post

While it's pretty clear that George Bush and his neocon cheerleaders have pretty much lost the Iraq war. General Petraeus is just trying to minimize the chaos that a rapid withdrawal of U.S. troops. The good news is that the surge did have some positive results, Much like flooding a crime ridden area should benefit from an influx of Police officers. If only the George Bush had listened to the military (not just Don Rumsfeld and Richard Perle) and put in more troops at the begining we would never have been in this quagmire today.

Meanwhile here in the U.S. the Dumbocrats were on parade at the Univision debate Sunday night. Once again the pandering was pathetic as they all spoke of "comprehensive immigration reform" aka AMNESTY for illegal immigrants who have broken our laws. It just has reinforced the fact that I will not be voting for a Democratic candidate for President next year even though I am a life long registered Democrat. The Dems are also rushing toward failure with all this talk of giving an amnesty to those who have not respected our laws. They like George Bush just don't get it and so will not be getting my vote.

Quote of the day.

In reading the article today in the Washington Post one item stood out among all the arguments as to weather the "surge" was working or not in Iraq:

"We're not smart enough to know the course that these matters might take," Rice conceded to an Australian newspaper last week.

I don't want to cause no fuss but, can I ride your illegals bus!

Never talked about by the pro illegal immigrant, open borders and corrupt U.S. Chamber of Commerce business interests is how U.S taxpayers are subsidizing the illegal immigrant workforce. A citizen journalist has documented his daily experience on a Suffolk County Long Island bus. I doubt the limo liberals would ever allow it to be shown shown at the East Hampton Film Festival but, perhaps it should be nominated at the Hola Suckers film festival. Though it really should be required viewing at Homeland Security and ICE. While everyone is all a buzz about the latest Osama Bin Laden tape. Some of these people on the bus have crossed the U.S. borders illegally traveled 1500 miles into the country and ride the bus in suburban Lon Island everyday. Do you feel safe yet?

Steve Jobs is a salesman.

Face it all those who bought an I Phone ten weeks ago amid all the hoopla the corporate media created paid $200 dollars to use it that even before the usage bills came in from ATT. As Eugene Robinson points out it is becoming clear that executives like Apple's Steve Jobs are just salesmen. While he is not selling snake oil but, he is selling. It seems to me for those who followed Steve Jobs pied piper tune that caused them to camp out and pay top dollar for their I Phone the "I" stands for idiot.

So this is what happens.

"The percentage of mortgages entering foreclosure rose to a record level during the three months ended June 30, according to a survey released yesterday."-Washington Post

Hmmm so this is what happens when lenders give loans to people who can barely afford them including illegal immigrants who should not be here in the first place but, of course the mainstream corporate media does not raise that issue. Meanwhile congress and President Bush seem to want to us taxpayer dollars to bail the lenders and the sub prime buyers out and in so doing will make sure that people and the lenders who made these bad loans will never learn the lessons of finance. That lending money requires diligence and responsibility. I paid off my college, car, home and even time share loans. I did it because it my responsibility to do so. I seems that concept is being ignored with those involved in these sub prime loans.

I'm with Fred

Fred Thompson entered the presidential race last night and not a moment to soon. Of all the candidates Thompson has always struck a cord with me as possibly someone who can lead the country with fairness, common sense and hopefully a minimum of pandering. I have been waiting for Thompson to enter the campaign after giving up on the Democrats for their amnesty position on illegal immigration issue. To me voting for them would be like voting for George Bush. At least Thompson does appear to have a "law and order" (no pun intended) position on the issue. Which I think will separate him from the pack and make it easy for Democrats like me to vote for him.
Of all the candidates I think Thompson's rise to where he is closely mimics my life too. The following quote by Thompson is something that is so closely a biography of my life it's scary:

"In his announcement video, Thompson portrays himself as someone from ordinary roots who has enjoyed great success in life. "I have worked for minimum wages, for salaries more than I ever thought I would make, and for everything in between. I have had dinners on the factory floor, while working the graveyard shift,"

Maybe I sensed this connection with my middle class upbringing and values. Many month's ago as I gave a five bucks to his exploratory committee (something that I have never done before). I just hope I get my money's worth from his candidacy. Because right now I'm with Fred.

Whose country is this anyway?

George Bush went to Iraq to put on another dog and pony show about the improvements in that country. As usual the corporate media dutifully followed the stunt at at a U.S. airbase but, of course Bush did not go out and meet with the Iraqi people much like he has refused to listen to the American people on issues like illegal immigration. Here is the money quote:

"General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker tell me if the kind of success we are now seeing continues, it will be possible to maintain the same level of security with fewer American forces,"

Meanwhile Mexican President Felipe Calderon is upset because the United States is apparently attempting to enforce it's immigration laws which after years of non enforcement is upsetting people who have broken them. It seems he has a different rules as far as where his countries borders lie. Here is the money quote:

"I have said that Mexico does not stop at the border, that wherever there is a Mexican, there is Mexico."

To which I say come home President Bush and bring some troops with you. Because there appears to be an invasion happening here in the U.S. and you need to stop it NOW!

Labor Day myth and the reality.

I am about to head off to work this Labor Day. I'm probably one of the few people working this day here in the U.S.. Even many of the illegal immigrants will be filling the parks enjoying the day off. I don't mind working but, paying taxes and subsidizing others and the businesses that hire illegals is another story altogether. The corrupt employers who hire the illegals keep crying about the "labor shortage" in this country as the reason why they hire illegal workers. But as this article in Business Process Management points out that they are ignoring the reality of the free market system. While at the same time ruining the country for their own greed. Here are some of the money quotes:

"But some economists and worker advocates argue the concept of a labor shortage is simply being used to keep wages down. "Employers are very quick to raise the specter of a labor shortage, but often it's another way of saying they can't find the workers they want at the price they're paying," says Jared Bernstein, senior economist for the Economic Policy Institute, a left-leaning think tank in Washington. "They are unwilling to meet the price signal the market is sending, so they seek help in the form of a spigot like immigration."

"Most Americans certainly aren't finding their incomes exploding. The wages of 80% of the U.S. workforce -- made up of nonsupervisory workers -- have been stagnating since the late-1990s boom ended. On Aug. 20, the government released data that showed the average household income increased 4.1% in 2005, to $55,238. But that's still below the average household income in 2000."

Well I guess it's time to go to work.

Money for nothing

Speaking of energy the Washington Post reports on a GAO report on another fine mess that George Bush got us into in Iraq:
"Iraq's crucial oil and electricity sectors still need roughly $50 billion to meet demand, analysts and officials say, even after the United States has poured more than $6 billion into them over more than four years."
How long can this nonsense go on? How much money do we taxpayers have to spend to fix this disaster. But, most importantly how much more blood will be spent for oil.

Time for new energy

As the summer winds down the Washington Post has an article about some companies exploring new clean energy technologies. I am reminded it is time for me to think about ramping up the BCP energy plan for winter. I'll be posting about it from time to time in the near future.

Gay bathroom scandals from both parties.

According to the Washington Post Senator Larry Craig will resign today. While many are piling on about the hypocrisy of this Republican Craig caught soliciting a Police Officer in an airport bathroom. I am reminded of the Democrats own scandal regarding former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreavy . Who resigned after it was found out he put his gay lover on the government payroll (which I think is more despicable because it cost taxpayers money). I sometimes travel by car from Long Island to Washington D.C. and use the rest areas on the New Jersey Turnpike from time to time. During Mcgreavy's tenure they remodeled the bathrooms at the Turnpike rest areas. At some of the newly remodeled bathrooms there were no dividers between the urinals. It seemed to me the urinals were designed so that private parts were pretty much exposed. I remember thinking this was strange for a public bathroom and that gays and pedophiles would have a field day in these rest rooms. These two scandals and their connection with public restrooms bathrooms strikes me as very ironic.

Die Diana die!

I am once again amused and disappointed by the amount of time the mainstream media in this country devoted to the death of Princess Diana. The depressed royal woman who met death in a high end automobile in a Paris tunnel years ago. As far as I can see her only her commendable usefulness was a few photo ops about landmines. While this is commendable the people who go out an actually clear these mines are the real heroes. I thinks Diana would agree. So let this woman die already and let's have the media concentrate more on the the living.
