Guess where I am going?

A company I work for is sending me to help set up a communication system at the Republican National Convention site in St. Paul. I hope to be able to blog from time to time during the next two weeks from the location. Maybe even meet Juan McCain and tell him what I thought of the Kennedy/McCain Illegal immigrant amnesty bill. Well, it's time to pack and head off to the airport.

Obama/Biden in 08? I don't think so.

Well, the Barrack (the change messiah) Obama has made his pick for VP and it is Joe Biden. A good choice but it would have been better if you hold this team up to a mirror and reverse the choices IMO. None the less I still will not be voting for an Obama/Biden ticket. Mainly because Obama has already come out for granting drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. Biden as a member of the Obama team will have to go along with this reward for illegal behavior. The Obama/Biden campaign seems to have forgotten the Grassly axiom: "When you reward illegality you get more of it!" But, some of us voters have not forgotten their positions like rewarding illegal immigrants for breaking our laws. Putting Biden on the ticket is not enough to sway this registered Dem.

Why am I not surprised

While Nancy Pelosi and her liberal dumbocrats continue to cave in on issues like this just like they have been doing on everything from the Iraq war vote, wire taping and giving immunity to the telcom companies. With this latest flip flop on offshore oil drilling we will increase and extend our dependence on oil and push back development of new technologies. As for me I spent yesterday doing a preliminary checkout of a new 48 volt solar panel I recently bought. I am not waiting for anyone in Washington to promote any "alternative energy" proposals. Especially not the weasel Democrats.

John Edwards: The lying lawyer Democrat

I get angry thinking that I might have actually voted for the lying lawyer John Edwards after he admitted his having sex with his f&^k buddy aka mistress. I am so sick of these elite Washington pols who screw up and ask for forgiveness after they are caught screwing people other than their spouse. Here are some of the weasel quotes from the lying lawyer John Edwards himself:

What an idiot. If you believed them you never would have climbed in the sack with Rielle Hunter. You did not really believe them. Did you?

McCain's VP choice: Bloomberg

Not that I want to help the McCain campaign. But, after watching the cable news idiot pundits discuss all the choices for Vice President for both candidates as if they actually knew something. I thought why not play a hunch myself. If McCain were smart (and I do not think he is) he would pick New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Yeah, I know Bllomberg registered as an independent, But look at Joe Lieberman going on Meet the Press to be spokesman for McCain. This notion popped into my head yesterday when I read that Bloomberg was taking Spanish lessons which is just perfect for an ambitious politican who plans on Hispandaring for higher office in the future. The VP spot would be perfect for Bloomberg and the McCain campaign. It would give McCain a solid lock on the Jewish vote. Not to mention that both MCain and Bloomberg have no problem with illegal immigrants breaking our laws. Best of all for Bloomberg McCain will probably only last one term making Bloomberg a shoe in for a run for President in four years. Stay tuned!

New York Times at it again.

If it's Sunday it must be the New York Times with another liberal tear jerker article about illegal immigrants and down playing the cost of illegal immigrants to U.S. taxpayers. This time it's the story is about an illegal immigrant who changed his name and was involved in a traffic accident here in the U.S. The hospital bills to treat his injuries were over 1.5 million until the hospital sent him back to his family in Guatemala. Of course the lawyers and and church are now involved in suing the hospital over his health care. The Times once home to defrocked journalists who were making up stories now seems to be in the process of making up policy. Calling what the hospital did a "deportation". Hmmm and I thought deportations were the policy of the Federal Government. Or is the New York Times just making this stuff up again.
Here are some of the money quotes:
"The journey to Jolomcú is an arduous one, as Mr. Jiménez’s new legal team discovered when several members — a lawyer, a paralegal, a priest and a bioethicist — first traveled there to meet him."
Amazing what the lure of money from lawsuits will make some people do. Like make "arduous journeys" to foreign countries to find clients.
As usual in the New York Times articles you have to read all the way to the end to see that the "client" is not as brain damaged as the reporting and lawyers might have you believe.

I'm sure by the time his lawyers get through with him he will not be able to read at all. We shall see.

And the Democrats are dumber.

You do not have to look to far to see that there is really no difference between the insane position of the Republicans and the Democrats when it comes to offshore oil drilling. It seems when the oil industry speaks about drilling for oil off our coasts even people like Barrack "change" Obama listen. Here is exhibit A:

"Obama said Friday that he would be willing to compromise on his position against offshore oil drilling if it were part of a more overarching strategy to lower energy costs.-CNN

But, back in June Obama was speaking a different tune:

"When I'm president, I intend to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida's coasts," Obama told reporters in Jacksonville in late June. "That's how we can protect our coastline and still make the investments that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring down gas prices for good."

The fact is if you listen real close neither Juan McCain, the Dumbocrats like Obama or the oil companies are promising that if the oil companies get the moratorium lifted to drill off the U.S. coasts that the oil found will be used to provide energy to U.S. consumers. I will put this little tidbit of information in the "I told you so file" for later use.
Meanwhile back in the oil company board rooms:

"HOUSTON -Oil giants Chevron Corp. and Total SA wrapped up a string of gargantuan, record-breaking earnings reports Friday, a stretch in which six of the major international oil companies topped $50 billion in combined profit for the first time."

Hello suckers! Especially those who think voting for Obama means that there will be a real "change" in Washington.

Republican insanity

I was reading the Wall Street Journal article yesterday about how the Republicans are hoping to use drilling offshore for oil as an issue against the Democrats. Have they gone insane? First it was picking a candidate like Juan McCain who ignores the conservative middle class of the party base in favor of hispandering to the illegal immigrant vote. Now they believe that the American public will vote for them if they give the oil companies what they want which is more drilling offshore. They are just nuts if they pursue this track. They do not seem to understand that oil is not the future. We have as a nation failed to understand this during previous energy crises. That's why we are paying over $4.00 a gallon for gasoline today. Second even if the Republicans allow the oil companies to drill offshore that does not mean that the oil will be used here in the United States. We have been down this road before and it leads nowhere good. As they say the very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. It seems the Republicans are insane if they think that more oil is a winning issue for them.

Something ain't kosher in Iowa and at the New York Times

The embattled grey lady of newspapers the New York Times has had a series of articles about the immigration raids in May at a "kosher" meat packing plant in Iowa by Julia Preston. It illustrates some of the reasons why the paper is losing it's credibility when it comes to reporting the news. Here are some of the money quotes from today's article:

"POSTVILLE, Iowa — About 1,000 people, including Hispanic immigrants, Catholic clergy members, rabbis and activists, marched through the center of this farm town on Sunday and held a rally at the entrance to a kosher meatpacking plant that was raided in May by immigration authorities."

Hmmm, the usual pro illegal immigrant activists protesting. But, notice no mention of "illegal immigrants" in this first paragraph. I guess the immigration raid in May swept them all up. Yeah right! Why are these "activists" protesting anyway? Read on...

"The march was called to protest working conditions in the plant, owned by Agriprocessors Inc., and to call for Congressional legislation to give legal status to illegal immigrants"

Ah there it is. Everything was fine as long as the illegal immigrants were allowed to violate U.S. laws, commit identity theft and get paid above minimum wage. But, now that the laws are being enforced and the illegal immigrants are being caught it's time to give the illegal workers legal status. Huh?

You need to read until the last three paragraphs to get quotes from people who really know what the immigration raids where really all about.

“It’s a felony when you take someone’s identity, and we think that needs to be out there when you talk about the supposed injustices against undocumented workers,” said Susan Tully of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an organizer of the counterprotest."

Give the workers legal status after breaking our laws and committing felonies? I don't think so.

Back on land

I have spent the past three weeks on a sailboat away from computers, and mainstream corporate media TV, newspapers and radio. I did not miss them at all. My only communication was with fellow human beings I came in contact with and the marine VHF radio to listen to weather broadcasts. I am slowly working my way back trying to the land of nonsense and the political campaigns of Barack (change messiah) Obama, Juan McCain and the stupidity of those in Washington. It has been a couple of very calm and peaceful weeks. Though I suspect it will not take long more than a few days before I become outraged by the shenanigans of either the Democrats or Republicans.

The problemo Mr. Obama is....

Nice words from Obama looking out for the "little people". The problem is Senator is that some of the people you are bailing out with U.S. taxpayer money may not be here legally and that is a sub prime problemo.

The Hispandering of Obama and McCain

That includes amnesty and a path to citizenship for the illegals who have broken our laws. Hey stupidos! Why would you grant citizenship to people whose first act in our country is to break our laws. A recent poll had the question which candidate do you favor for immigration reform. Obama or McCain. I did not answer because there was no choice for "none of the above". Which is how I plan to vote in November too!

Hola Hamptons

I spent last week out on the beach in Amagansett. There were a lot of changes from my last visit there in the summer of 2007. The Amagansett Farmers market was closed and so was Gordons a long time restaurant in town. But, even more striking was my visit to the IGA Supermarket. Between the workers stocking the shelves to the primarily Hispanic customers. I felt as though I was shopping in a supermarket in Mexico not in the United States. Meanwhile in tawny East Hampton the illegals are line up all along Newton Lane. They sit on the fences right outside the playground. I wonder how long before some East Hampton liberals child is molested by one of these frustrated illegals waiting for work.

As I continue to drive in my 38 mpg vehicle. I got some amusement from the news that those who bought SUV's over the past few years now find themselves unable to trade them in. Because these gas guzzlers have nobody buying them. This is good news that perhaps we as a country will finally come down to the reality of "wants and needs". Until that happens those who still say they can not live without an SUV can kiss my gASS tank.

Remembering Russert

I was out working on my sailboat when I heard the news that Tim Russert had died. The local NPR station had just switched from it's classical music format to the nightly broadcast of All Things Considered. The headlines started with "one of Washington's most respected journalists had died". I thought immediately it must have been Helen Thomas the longtime elder icon of the Washington press corp. I was shocked that they started they mentioned Tim Russert.

What made Russert different from many of the other journalists in the mainstream media is his middle class background. There are far to few journalists today who have the sensitivity and common sense of the middle class. Tim because of his growing up in Buffalo the son of a hard working middle class sanitation truck driver understood what it meant to be middle class in America and never forgot it. He was more in tune with that segment of the American public than many of the others in the mainstream media. There are not many others in the media with the same sensibility. With Russert gone politics will not be the same, America will not be the same.

Howard Kurz in the Washington Post has the story of citizen journalist and blogger Mayhill Fowler who scooped the mainstream media with both Obama's "bitter" comments and Bill Clinton's comments on the Vanity Fair piece. Good for her at getting at the truth of some of these politicians runnoing for office. Here are some of the money quotes:

The Washington Post had a front page story yesterday about how Operation Streamline a Homeland Security enforcement program along the U.S. Mexico border is actually yielding some impressive results. It seems our Federal Government is finally getting the message: ENFORCEMENT WORKS! It is about time! Here are some of the money quotes:

Federal law enforcement agencies have increased criminal prosecutions of immigration violators to record levels, in part by filing minor charges against virtually every person caught illegally crossing some stretches of the U.S.-Mexico border, according to new U.S. data.

Officials say the threat of prison and a criminal record is a powerful deterrent, one that is helping drive down illegal immigration along the nearly 2,000-mile frontier between the United States and Mexico.

In testimony to Congress this spring, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said that Operation Streamline "is a very good program, and we are working to get it expanded across other parts of the border" because "it has a great deterrent effect

Federal officials credit the program and other measures for contributing to a 20 percent drop in apprehensions of illegal immigrants on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2007, to 859,000. That figure is on track to drop an additional 15 percent this year.

In areas where it has been applied -- which total about 500 miles, or one-fourth of the border -- Operation Streamline has slowed border traffic more substantially.

It's worked beautifully. Crime has dropped 76 percent in Del Rio, with the lowest level of illegal crossings they have ever seen," said Rep. John Culberson, a Houston area Republican who has worked with two border-district Democrats to promote the program. "Law enforcement is simple if you just enforce the law rigorously."

I tip my hat to Michael Chertoff and all those involved in enforcing this program along with BIG thank you. I am beginning to feel that our Federal Government is finally starting to do something about illegal immigration and it's a good feeling.

Obama pulling numbers out of his butt?

The mainstream political media is all over Scott McClellan's book on how the Bush administration lied to us about the Iraq war. Meanwhile, the corporate mainstream media seems to be ignoring Barrack Obama pulling stats out of his butt regarding hate crimes against Hispanics in his recent speeches. Mickey Kaus at Slate does a smackdown of Obama recent speeches and a look at the actual numbers. Here are some of the money quotes:
Where does Obama get that "hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year"--an alleged increase he blamed on "people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up"?

A 35% increase over four years is not "doubled last year." (Never mind why the SPLC may have picked 2003 as their base of comparison ).

Am I missing some Obama data source? Or is this an overly overlooked incident of Obama pulling convenient facts out of the air? ...

Suppose John McCain had said the same thing! ... Er, actually, McCain probably will say the same thing. And he'll probably get a pass too. Who'd attack him for it? Obama? The Dobbs-deriding MSM? This is not an area where you can rely on the normal adversarial political process to yield the truth, because Obama, McCain and the MSM essentially agree on immigration. ...

The pursuit of...?

Ann Applebaum has an interesting op-ed about the overworked and over achievement of today's kids and the parents who raise them. One is constantly reminded that today's kids are over confident know nothings that need to be questioned carefully. I was reminded last night at dinner at a restaurant here in Washington DC. We asked the young perky waitress if they still had any Lobster specials (our favorite dish at this restaurant and one that is frequently sold out) Oh sure she said confidently. So we were looking forward to that meal when after the appetizers she came back with: "I am so sorry...." The restaurant of course did not have any more Lobster. This is not the first time this has happened with the young confident responding wait staff. They often sound so confident but, often really don't know the answers. As Applebaum writes:

To live and die in Shirley, Long Island

I found myself in Politics and Prose bookstore last night here in Washington listening to Kelly McMaster talk about her book WELCOME TO SHIRLEY. As the New York City liberals start their annual migration east to the Hamptons this summer. Many will drive by the middle class town of Shirley. Kelly McMaster has penned a wonderful bitter sweet memior of growing up in this solidly middle class town before heading off to Vassar and becoming a writer. I grew up and still live about ten miles from Shirley and the about seven miles from the Brookhaven Labs which also plays an important part of McMaster's book. I can relate to the hard working middle class neighborhood and community she writes about. It is a segment of American society not often looked at by writers. Shirley is a town where bad things happen to good people and Brookhaven Labs has a history of good people doing bad things. McMaster captures the crossroads where these two forces meet. The elite Hampton's crowd will bypass places like Shirley and spend more of their lives stuck in traffic to reach their status Meccas of East and Southampton etc.... While in middle class towns like Shirley hardworking people go on with their lives and enjoy a beach just as any lovely as any in the Hamptons. McMaster captures their lives and deaths very poignantly in her book.

ICE making things hot.

I rejoice when I read stories about immigration raids by ICE like this one. Because it shows me that after years of inaction that the Federal Government may actually working to enforce our immigration laws. Here are some more of the money quotes:

And the problem is? Just think of the savings to local taxpayers if those here illegally no longer have to be educated on the U.S. taxpayers dime.

Obermann is losing it and so is MSNBC.

I was channel surfing last night over some pork lo mein and switched on MSNBC'S COUNTDOWN hosted by Keith (big head) Obermann. I have not watched COUNTDOWN since Oberman and others like Al Roker at NBC like the politically correct Nazi's they are marched into the head of NBC News Steve Capus's office and demanded that Don Imus be taken off the air.
But, tuning into Obermann last night showed me how mentally deranged Obermann is and how degraded what is considered "news" is at MSNBC. The number one story on Countdown was about a tape of Bill O'Reilly getting pissed off on the set of Inside Edition twenty years ago. You can see how Obermann presented it here. Now I know that Obermann has an obsession for O'Reilly just as he is a political butt boy for Obama. But, last night's broadcast even went further by trying to pass off a female comedian as a expert on body language who analyzed O'Reilly outburst. Only at the end did Oberman make some passing remark that the woman was a fake. I don't know if this is a regular feature of MSNBC's COUNTDOWN show. But, I'd sure like to see the dictionary they are using and to see what yhe definition of "credibilty" is in their edtion. Obermann and MSNBC seems to be losing it.

A Mothers Day story for those illegal immigrant advocates.

Hola! Meet Senior Gutierrez-Juarez. As the Catholic church and the open borders advocates like to say "he just came here to work". Well and maybe do a few other things since he is accused of raping a ten year old child. Here are the money quotes:

Of course the Catholic church advocates who help the illegal immigrants may see nothing wrong with this considering it's record of child molestation by parish priests. At least he is not a polgomist who is a U.S. citizen otherwise the major national liberal mainstream media like NBC, ABC and CBS might have actually covered this story.

The liberal media wants more tears and dollars from U.S. taxpayers.

I've been away on a vacation in the Bahamas for the past week. But, when I come back it seems the liberal mainstream media is up to their old tricks in reporting on immigration issues. The latest comes from the a 60 Minutes story last night and the Washington Post today where "reporters" Amy Goldstein and Dana Priest try to get U.S. citizens to shed tears for the immigrants in U.S. detention centers awaiting deportation. But, they downplay the role of their lawyers who (guess what?) are suing the Federal government. Hmmmm. Here are some the money quotes:

"This unnoticed prison system was built for a quick revolving door of detainees -- into custody, out of the country. But often, people linger in detention for months or years."

People in detention for months or years? Perhaps if they and their lawyers would stop trying to fight deportation they would be deported and released to get whatever medical treatment they desire just not on the U.S. taxpayers dime. It's their call (and of course their lawyers too) but, that is never mentioned by this crack reporting team from WAPO. But, we U.S. taxpayers are supposed to feel sorry for them as they game the system at our expense. While many citizens in our own country do not have any medical coverage. Yeah right.

Two months after ICE agents seized Harvill in Florida, they transferred her to Arizona last May, saying a federal compound called the Florence Service Processing Center was better suited to handle her medical care.

Seized? How about arrested as a more appropiate way to describe what happens to those who violate our laws. The bias in their reporting is showing.

Albert Hoffmann father of LSD dead at 102

"Albert Hofmann, 102, a Swiss chemist and accidental father of LSD who came to view the much-vilified and abused hallucinogen he discovered in 1938 as his "problem child," died April 29 at his home in Burg, a village near Basel, Switzerland, after a heart attack."- Washington Post

What I found interesting while reading the obituary of Hoffmann in the Washington Post was that it makes absolutely no mention of it's use by the CIA in it's mind control experiments during the cold war. So important did the CIA believe that LSD would be an important drug in getting it's cold war prisoner's to talk that the agency once attempted to buy all the stockpile that Sandoz Labs had so that it could not be sold to anyone else. The CIA then cut a check to cover the purchase of 25,000 lbs of LSD. The trouble was Sandoz only had about 25 pounds of the stuff. Somebody in the CIA had misread the quantity Sandoz had in stock. Even back then the CIA was getting the intelligence wrong. Of course LSD like many of the other "truth serums" turned out to be pretty much useless in getting quality information in interrogations.

Bank of America profits down! Hola suckers!

I guess the great financial geniuses at The Bank of America who came up with the plan to give credit cards and sub prime mortgage loans to illegal immigrants may not have had such a great business idea after all. Perhaps BOA should change their name to Bank of Idiots. What's next? Forget turning to CNBC and the Wall Street Journal to find out. If you would have been listening to Bob you would have seen this train wreck coming a long time ago.

Two woman making a difference

While the Pope gives his blessing to illegals to keep breaking our laws. The Washington Post has a story about Chris Pannell and Allison Kipp two hard working American woman who are making a difference in their community that has be over run by illegal immigration. Here are some of the money quotes:

Pope urges continued invasion of U.S.

Ignored by the mainstream liberal media is the Pope's call for continued illegal immigration into the United States. The Pope bought his Papal B.S. shovel with him as he like many pro illegal immigrant advocates refuse to make the distinction between legal immigration and illegal immigrants. While many on Capitol Hill like Nancy Pelosi and others were kissing the Popes hand at least one pol Tom Tancredo was speaking out and standing up for the United States. here are some of the money quotes:

"Pope Benedict XVI said the United States must do “everything possible to fight … all forms of violence so that immigrants may lead dignified lives.”

To which Tom Tancredo responds: “I would like to know what part of our lax immigration policy is considered violent,” “I fail to see how accepting more refugees than any other nation –and providing free health care, education,
housing and social service benefits to millions of illegal aliens is in any way ‘violent’ or ‘degrading.’”

“I want to encourage you and your communities to continue to welcome the immigrants who join your ranks today, to share their joys and hopes, to support them in their sorrows and trials and to help them flourish in their new home.”

Wait a minute I just thought they came here to work? So nice of the Pope to invite the illegals to make them selves at home in our country. Perhaps it would be better if he invited them to live in the Vatican. Or as Tancredo said: “ it is not in his job description to engage in American politics.”

As the Catholic church here in the U.S. has declining membership among U.S. citizens Tancredo points out the real reason for the Pope's advocacy for continued illegal immigration into the United States: “I suspect the Pope’s immigration comments may have less to do with spreading the gospel than they do about recruiting new members of the church,” said Tancredo. “This isn’t preaching it is ‘faith-based’ marketing.”

Bitter hypocrisy!

It is yet to be seen whether condescending remark on "small town" America is Barrack Obama's "yeee ha" moment ala Howard Dean or just a bump in the road. But, the hypocrisy is startling. Just a few weeks after throwing his grandmother under the bus after describing her as a "typical white person" he is now embracing being raised by his single mother and his grandparents.
Meanwhile, Obama sycophant and Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson defends Obama by launching a pathetic attack on Hillary Clinton and defending why we need an elitist for for President. Here is the money quote:

First, given the urgency and complexity of the problems the next president will face, who's going to think it's a good idea to elect Joe or Josephine Sixpack?"

Recession? What Recession?

I spent a few days in New York City last week and the restaurants were packed. No sign of recession there. But as blogger Deeply Imbedded points out that is not the view from the rest of the country. That is the great disconnect with most of the rest of the country on many issues like the recession and illegal immigration. Those in Washington and New York have to look hard to see it.
