A shout out to Texas Branch and a shout at Congress!

If George Bush were your only guide you might say that the people of Texas were pretty dumb. But, if you look at the people of Farmers Branch and their vote on Saturday you would see smart people who understand the when Federal Officials like George W. Bush and Congress fail to protect their communities from the influx of illegal immigrants they must take matters into their own hands. That's what they did on Saturday when voters voted 68% to 32% to ban landlords from renting to illegal immigrants. Here are some of the money quotes:

"FARMERS BRANCH, Texas -- Voters in this Dallas suburb became the first in the nation Saturday to prohibit landlords from renting to most illegal immigrants."

"It says especially to Congress that we're tired of the out-of-control illegal immigration problem. That if Congress doesn't do something about it, cities will," said Tim O'Hare, a City Council member who was the ordinance's lead proponent.

It certainly does send a message! The question is is Congress and President Bush going to listen?
